Crime Tyre Nichols video to be released soon. 5 Memphis cops fired and charged with murder for his death

This beating reminded me of the Kelly Thomas beating in seattle(I think) where he was screaming for his dad after the one cop put on his “ass beating gloves” that one is tough to watch
Orange County, specifically in Fullerton

Yes he shouldn't have fled, but they literally caused the guy to be terrified by immediately screaming multiple conflicting instructions such as get on the ground when he's already on the ground, hitting, tazing and pepper spraying him, etc.
Not an argument, just a speculative and philosophical question- at what point is someone allowed ti flee the police in preservation of their own life?

Bad cops have a playbook- screaming a bunch of different commands and confusing a guy is a great way to have permission to beat on him when you “subdue” him. Same with being extra rough and hurting him when you’re cuffing him. You wrench on his arm so he reacts in pain. When he tenses up or turns to alleviate the pain you get to crack him for “resisting”.

I mean the guy had to have been shell shocked because he couldn't see from pepper spray, tazed and and screamed at while hitting him. Almost anyone would be disoriented and scared in that scenario.

Seems like a normal human reaction to instinctively run from that.

It should have never gotten to that point in the first place.

Wow. One of the worst beatings I have seen by police. I am surprised that a jury would find the officers not guilty. I am sure ben crump is shitting flaming kittens from his bigoted ass about now
I don't get it either.

It's disgusting and it's sad. You have a murder on video and they get away with it.

My only guess is that the officers that shouldered the blame took the heat off of these guys. I don’t specifically know what these specific officers did in this video. I just know that several cops beat this man to death.

From the little I heard of the actual testimony, it's looks like that's exactly how the defense played it. They broke it down on a case by case for each of their defendants, trying to isolate the perspective to just them in kinda silly ways. Like, one of them only started wailing on the guy after he ran and got brought down again. So the defense sells it as, "Imagine your Officer X, and you suddenly find yourself with a suspect running right towards you! All you know is the call out for backup went out, and now he's upon you!" Paint the most damning narrative you could dream up and then beg the jury to only analyze it through that narrow lens.

Pretty much, the prosecution just got out lawyered. They had all the evidence in the world to convict, and they let a smooth talking defense attorney sway a jury. Shit like that happens. But as a former DA, I'd take hard look at my prosecutors before I'd ever let them sit first chair and try a case again.

I'm with you man, this one was bad.
