Television TV Show Thread

My wife forced me to watch The Perfect Couple with Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber. She hooked me in by saying it was a "who done it", which are my favorites. It was that, but also a trashy, affair and drug and alcohol fueled indictment of the uber rich. I don't get the criticism; it was fucking fun. Probably could have been an episode shorter, and I would have appreciated some nudity, but I was kept guessing who the murderer was until the last episode. Not the strongest supporting cast, but like I said, I had fun with it.

Season 6 - 8.0 / 10.

Finished up the 7th, the final, season of The Shield and its awesome.

The best way to view Season 6 is the first half of the final season because there really wasn't a finale and the final episode didn't wrap up any season-long storylines or any epic tension-filled action.

The season truely is the finale of show in many ways while giving many characters subtle epilogues within the show itself, while not necessarily give any endings to many characters at all.
Julian, who was one one of the original characters as a rookie cop in the first season is still in the show and is the mentor of a rookie cop has absolutely no arc in the final three seasons other than just being a mentor. Dany is still there but has mostly been written off from any significant role in any of the storylines since the 5th season as well.

This season is mostly focused on Vic, Shane, and Ronnie finally has his time in the spotlight in this season, and its beautiful to watch. Its absolutely Shakespearean.

Only major complaint is this - I mentioned Vic & Asceveda's rivalry is what the early season's conflict was built upon, and here its now more muted than ever. I'm sure its probably because they couldn't find an angle to interweave it into the narrative, but I think there was potential that just was not taken advantage of.

Overall Rating - 9.3

Seems pretty bizarre I'm giving a high rating in a review I only mentioned 3 of 4 things that are complaints, but I studdied Shakespear's plays in High School so when I describe anything as 'Shakespearean' that is as highest possible praise, and complaints aren't really as bad as they sound.

Edit - Would like to add, to summarize my series if reviews of each season - Should you rewatch The Shield or watch it for the first time?

Absolutely.

Final nail.

IRL political drama has been far more entertaining to wach than any TV show, so with 55 days until the election its quite early to deem anything as 'the final nail.'

Keep in mind Trump still won 2016 even after the 'grab em by the p****' tape was released. A 'meh' performance at a debate isn't going to be remembered on election day 7 weeks later.

What is the longish wuxia series that was made by / for Netlfix? I was trying to recall its name.

Good tv shows have charismatic leads.

Tulsa King S2 on Paramount+ as of few hrs ago. The shopping for a suit scene was a bit lame.

As with past seasons, with the exception of last season, the thing that makes Fargo stand out is the performances. Truly great performances all-around. Perhaps nobody did more with less than Lamorne Morris as the happenstance deputy, and true protagonist of the season, misfortunately caught up in this criminal imbroglio.
I was watching football, but my newsfeed made me wise to this, and for me, it's the only highlight of the Emmy's.

Agreed, but all in all, I was really glad to see it back. It's not the Sopranos, but it's a fun watch, and I like the big baddie for the 2nd season.

Never watched Fringe, now halfhway through it.
Not very consistent, but very good at times.

Walter Bishop is top 20 in Sci Fi characters
Peter Bishop has a very punchable face
Olivia was so hot, until I saw her channeling Leonard Nimoy.

Also, I think Walternate and Fauxlivia are hilarious names.

Rewatched season 1&2 of “From” on Amazon, since the third season is coming out on Sunday.

It’s great TV, but the first two seasons were pure setup, so it’s possible that whatever is revealed to be going on in the show is dumb a la “Lost”.

It’s a well made show, good production, acting, and characters, and the horror/mystery genre is very engaging, so I’m sticking with it.

I bumped an old thread on the show if anyone else is going to tune into season 3.

Nice. I enjoy this show, thanks for the heads up

Early thoughts on Agatha? Didn't watch yet.

EDIT: Surprised Disney+ shows bare buns... in blurry motion mostly.
