Television TV Show Thread

It's been over a year since Twisted Metal S1 and I just found out that S2 only started filming a month ago.

My ratings of the seasons -
Season 1 - 9.5
Season 2 - 9.7
Season 3 - 8.0

Season 4 - 8.5
Two and a half years ago I started rewatching The Shield to see see how well its aged, and I got caught up with life so I didn't mean to take such a long break but I just got around to picking up where I left off and....

Season 5 is 9.9/10.

This may be peak crime/cop drama writing and it may never be surpassed.
Its damn near Shakespearean, or actually Shakespearean, and possibly surpassing Shakespearean.

Also, the BluRay release of the entire series has been perfectly adapted to widescreen from its original 4:3 aspect ratio, and I do mean perfectly. At no point have I ever taken out of a scene by weird jockiness of the camera shot that led me to think 'oh they screwed up on the transfer.' And it still has the original film grain while enhancing the resolution for modern HDTVs.... which you'd think make the quality more clear would result in eliminating the original gain... but not here.

BTW, I bought the BluRay Entire Series for $80 in 2022, so if you see if used for cheaper I highly recommend it.

‘The ‘Burbs’ Series Starring Keke Palmer Set at Peacock, Brian Grazer & Seth MacFarlane to Produce

Keke Palmer is set to star in a TV adaptation of the dark comedy film “The ‘Burbs,” which has been ordered straight-to-series at Peacock.

Celeste Hughey (“Palm Royale,” “Dead to Me,” “High Fidelity”) will adapt the film for television. Seth MacFarlane is set to executive produce, as will Brian Grazer of Imagine Entertainment, with Imagine having produced the film. Dana Olsen, who wrote the film, will co-executive produce.

The series will film on the Universal Studios backlot, just like the movie. Released in 1989, “The ‘Burbs” starred Tom Hanks, Carrie Fisher, Bruce Dern, Rick Ducommun, and Corey Feldman. In the film, the residents of a suburban neighborhood suspect their new neighbors are ritualistic murderers. Produced by Universal Pictures, the film grossed just over $49 million against a reported budget of $18 million. It is now considered a cult classic.

I loved the movie. I thought Palm Royal was alright but I didn't really care for High Fidelity (the tv series. I liked the movie and the book) So I'm not too confident this will be good. But I'll definitely check it out.

Finishing up Season 6 of The Shield, and its definitely weaker than Season 5.

Forrest Whitaker as the antagonist of Season 5 was perfect, and his character's arc carried over to the first 3 episodes of Season 6... and then nothing. The show's main drama is the fallout from Season 5, secrets being revealed... but there is no overall threat that's even close to Season 1, 2, 4, &5.

And there's one thing that really bugs me. There's no way Vick would give Asceveda the photos to 'establish trust.' If you know you know. Their rivalry has been the main conflict throughout the series, there would be no trust between them anyway, and Vick would give up all leverage that he wouldn't be stabbed in the back.

Otherwise, still a great season but it really reminds me of Season 3, that the stakes are noticably lower than the previous season.

Season 6 - 8.0 / 10.

By the initial casting choice we can already see the direction this may go in. I hope that isn't the case because I loved the movie and always thought it would make a cool TV show.
