Haven't paid attention to any new shows in many months, since Squid Game concluded... and I found this, which I'm surprised there's practically been no promotion for or any discussion anywhere.
In fact when I saw the file name it just said 'Robin Hood 2025,' and it's a TV series and not a movie.
Did a quick search, and only one name in one role sold me on watching the pilot -
"Sean Bean - Sheriff of Nottingham."
Downloaded the first episode, watched it without interruption, and it's definitely worth checking out. It doesn't have HBO production values but it looks far better than if a basic cable network produced it.
I'd say "It's if Showtime made Robin Hood series."
Also it's TV-MA.
Here's the teaser. There's a 3 minute trailer available but I think it gives too much away. Watch this instead.
Also it seems like every new movie or TV show set in the distant past loves to make the cast 'diverse' when the area of the world during the stated time period... wasn't diverse. There's none of that here.
Only issue I have - They're very heavy-handed with the antagonists of the series are Catholics and the protagonists are of a pagan religion.
Fine. If that's as deep as they're going that's tolerable.
Based off the first episode alone - 8.5/10.
Will be watching a new episode every few days.
