Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

I should make it a policy for when I next look at the markets I should ask the MAGA cultists on Sherdog what is going on, and do the exact opposite.
Mind-blowing to me how so many frauds and hucksters make it to positions of power and influence in America, then I see their base cheering and I have my answer.

"I wish to be clear: America first does not mean America alone. To the contrary, it is a call for deeper collaboration and mutual respect among trade partners."

sure, I mean what could be a clearer call for cooperation and mutual respect than a catch-phrase that literally expounds the theory of US primacy?

these people just use words in utter disregard for their meaning, its incredible, they have gone so far past the point where they expect, or they are expected, to use words whose meaning is even slightly consistent.

LOL ifs finally happened

"Rupert Murdoch has told me for years that he is going to get rid of his FoxNews, Trump Hating, Fake Pollster, but he has never done so. This “pollster” has gotten me, and MAGA, wrong for years. Also, and while he’s at it, he should start making changes at the China Loving Wall Street Journal. It sucks!!!"

Trump hates FoxNews now.

the reason he is mad at WSJ

To be fair, this is Bessent saying this and he seemed to be trying to stop Navarro's madness pretty early on. And now he's doing whatever he can to try to bring some stability back to the global marketplace.

Of people to blame in this...I don't think he's on the list. He was a voice of reason while the madden did...madden shit.

He took the gig, he's on the team, he hasn't resigned. He shares the blame equally.

And of course this goes beyond tariff's right? You can't be pro-global teamwork and community after threatening Canada, Greenland, Denmark, and the EU (via abandonment of Ukraine).
This is like one of those YT prank videos where the guy gets his ass beat while crying "its just a prank! its just a prankt", except it was never a prank.

Ehh...there's levels. Is he utterly and completely blame free? Okay no probably not. But call a spade a spade-he was one who saw the fallout and what was happening and spoke up even louder about what a bad idea it was.

It's disingenuous lumping Bessent and Navarro together and saying "one team, blame shared equally!"

If the Celtics lose a game and Tatum goes 14-18 from the floor with 15 rebounds and no turnovers and Jalen Brown is 2-15 from the floor with 8 turnovers...yeah they both are on the losing team but in that particular game they don't really have an "equal share" of the blame for the loss.

OK thanks, he is still playing the same rhetorical game where he wants to pretend words don't really mean what they mean or that there isn't a very clear way 'America First' has been expressed, though. Taken at the word of its acolytes 'America First' literally cannot mean 'deeper collaboration' at the same time as aggressively expressing american primacy and exceptional ism. He's being incredibly disingenuous about what Trump and his acolytes have been meaning by America First for years. Other countries are shit holes and them having the temerity to sell goods to America means they have been stealing jobs, taking advantage, they should pay for the privilege of having access to the US market. If the pushback had never happened and they could get away with it he'd be braying about US primacy and Trump's 4d chesz in the same way as the rest of them. Now they are realising they have to cooperate, well, one of them is admitting reality, in a mealy mouthed way that pretends the last 5 years (at least) never happened or that the Trumpian exceptionalist fever-dream wasn't based on exacty the kind of nativist isolationism he is now trying to deny. I'm not inclined to think he's that much less of a cunt, to be honest.
