Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

It's wild to watch the Left Cult fight against the U.S.A. having better trade deals.

The Left is the American hating clowns that we said they were.
When you want better deals you sit at the table and renegotiate. When you ignore the deals that were agreed upon and start trade wars with close allies, you just piss off your trade partners. Former partners are now making trade alliances, and Trump did more damage to the US economy and international relations than most people thought possible.

And no I’m not a leftist, I’m a Canadian conservative who hasn’t voted liberal since 1993.

The biggest political and economic blunder of probably the history of the country. Self inflicted wound that gained absolutely nothing. Trillions lost in the markets, massive costs to US companies, hatred from our allies, countries forming alliances against us….

For what? What was gained?? Fucking nothing!!!

All to the fault of the Republican regime. Own it you stupid cunts!

I wonder if someone got in his ear that made him genuinely scared. Assassination talks were probably happening at some point. I mean you can’t fuck with peoples money like that and expect nothing to happen. I still don’t think he’ll handle the economy well but for a narcissist like him to back down on everything like this makes me think someone was like “ dude you better fix this shit quick because some powerful people are real real mad at you.”

I would say assassination is a bit much. I think it's more like "Back off or starting in 2026 we can make things real uneasy for you." I feel like it would be much easier to tell people who are loyal and work for Trump that the money will dry up if you don't do something. Start bankrolling the competition and then ousting department heads.

Do any MAGAs want to give a coherent defense for the fact that this imbecile thinks that the best period for the US was the gilded age, where robber barons ran the country and there was no social safety net or any kind of protections for the common people?

Most workers were wage slaves in factories or in agriculture at the time. There were no worker rights, pensions, or enforced safety standards.

Also, this dumb fuck is still misrepresenting tariffs as taxes paid by foreign governments rather than duties collected from domestic importers of foreign products.

How is anybody supposed to take this shit seriously?

The modern US conservative movement is the biggest farce that I've ever seen.

A bunch of people worshipping a senile real estate con man who couldn't even make money in the casino business like he's a god.

It's been a decade of this horseshit, and it keeps getting dumber.

That's how you know it's getting to them.

They did the same thing when everyone started calling Vance and Trump “weird”. It was entertaining how much it got under their skin and they’re doing the same with the cult thing.

“NO YOU’RE IN A CULT!!11!!”

laces up golden Trump shoes with Trump autographed bible tucked under arm while heading to CPAC to pray to a golden Trump statue

Art of the deal

Ya ya left is the plague.

Genuinely curious, how do you negotiate from any position of strength or power when you make such public statements like Trump has before you even come to the table with China? You pretty much showed your hands publicly and are seeming more desperate than the other party.

It's obvious Trump wants to negotiate more than China would, and obviously they'll use that to their advantage.

So how does Trump get a better trade deal when China can smell the fear and willingness to talk after only a couple weeks of retaliation

I mean their official embassy and government social media pages are trolling and making fun of the Trump administration. Shows a lack of respect especially after Trump backing off so publicly.

Dow up a thousand as Trump indicates he's backing off this mass tarriffs for everyone idea

Sure would have been nice to have him not slammed his dick in the car door tho. Still down 4,000 points from the after election enthusiam, and down 2,000 this "liberation day"

Economy was going well and the dumbass could have ridden on that as it made slow and steady progress through his 4 years and he could have claimed that as a success. But nope. Dick in the car door it goes.

Trump wishes his dick was big enough to get caught in his zipper, let alone a car door.

I can't wait to quit my six figure IT job to work in a factory making the junk that goes in those quarter machines at the grocery store.

I'm sending my resume to the Homies factory first.

Start making them Edgar models, fool!

Its saving grace is that it was ended so swiftly. Its fallout could be felt for a long time.

Firstly, it starts with insulting and attacking your own allies, shitting on them, punching down on them, and then wondering why they look elsewhere for alliances. Maga chuds cheer for this because they listen to one source only and are oblivious to reality.

Secondly, it creates enormous volatility and uncertainty to everyone. If you wanted to trade with America, good fucking luck during this time. You could pay $50,000 for a shipment of goods only to discover a month or two later after its manufactured that it'll be $100,000 in tariffs to bring it in. That's enough to sink most small businesses instantly. The tariffs simply changed hourly and were announced on social media.

Thirdly, it's jeapordised Americas reputation as a safe haven. The US dollar is of immense value because of its resilience and its position as a 'safe harbour' against volatility. Trump has slashed that security. We've seen it in the bonds market and the mass sell offs.

The idea that manufacturing was coming back to the US in the way that Trump proposed was a pipe dream and people that thought it would (check what people were saying on this site) need to get their heads checked. They are not smart people. People don't want to do that kind of manufacturing to begin with; working 10-12 hour days for $2 a day isn't particularly high on many Americans priorities. Then there's the fact that starting manufacturing would require whole supply chains to be reimagined, factories built and people trained, a process that could take 5-20 years for some industries. And guess what? There's no stability. Why would you invest millions or billions in building factories in America that are uncompetitive and wouldn't deliver for years and years to come. Trump might (and did) change his mind on a daily basis, and as soon as those tariffs relaxed your investments were worthless. You'd be out of your mind to make that investment.
