If you believe what some on the hard right experts they are pushing to weaken the dollar so at the end of June the US can negotiate a new borrowing rate. Something similar with how the US handled after the housing crisis but plowed trillions into Wall Street and created the most billionaires in history. They where actually able to get a drop in the borrowing rate not sure because the big rating houses dropped the US rating. Fitch dropped the US rating in 2023.

Aside from endless appeasement of Putin, I don't really see that he's intentionally making things easier for Russia.
