Economy Trump's April 2nd Tariffs

Considering how much money is at stake here and the warnings it was coming it's reasonable to assume China tasked dozens if not hundreds of professionals within the country to formulate strategies and war plan scenarios, responses, how to impact maximum damage while minimizing damage received from tariffs.

Thousands upon thousand of hours of work and research, analysis, relative strengths weaknesses etc.

Then Trump comes out with a piece of cardboard and a plan that looks like an intern punched it into chatGPT the day before.
Everyone knows you just need a concept of a plan and then let chatgpt fill in the details

The Grepen is quickly replacing the F-35 orders and the French are working on a short lift off jet that could be ready in 2 years.

It would be good for the country I suspect if Trump can wrap up some trade wins soon. Time will tell of course what happens. Along these lines ~

Trump needs to close some deals to take the win on tariffs – or he’s handing them to Xi

&

Trump will destroy a world economy that has us at the apex and only getting stronger

LOL no its not.
Peru and Colombia are the ones that are buying them now.
I doubt they chose it over F35.
Gripen and F-35 are 2 completely different planes.
Also Gripen has a American engine so its not 100% with out US.

I'm kinda hoping the UK doesn't do a deal and leaves the 10 percent tariffs in place.

We don't want your shitty meat and you're not touching the NHS, and realistically we can get our trade from elsewhere IF it's too expensive with 10 percent tariffs.

I don't really see any point working too hard for any deal. A very limited scope affair revolving around cars. That's kinda all we need.

China will no longer buy our beef. They will double down on importing it from Australia and New Zealand. China going all out on this trade war. The thing is they’re still giving USA a chance to make it up but Trump would rather ruin the country than allow for that to happen. Honestly don’t even feel bad. Farmers got fucked in his first term and now they’ll get fucked even harder. They still showed up and voted for him again. Major education problem in this country and it looks like it will be our downfall. I’m glad the world is moving on without the USA. Imagine being the envy of the world, the most powerful nation on earth that gets everything for cheap because we have the wealth to not want those awful jobs and throwing it all away for nothing LOL. Dumbest self inflicted decline I’ve ever seen.
Yeah but did the libs get triggered?

Chinese airlines are under instructions not to take delivery of planes from US manufacturer Boeing, according to a Bloomberg report. It comes as trade war between Beijing and Washington continues to gain momentum.

Such a move could prompt Chinese airlines to consider alternatives from Europe's Airbus and homegrown manufacturer Comac.

this was a well thought out post and I don't mean to crap on it because it seems better thought out than the entire Trump tariff policy.

In basically 10 days, he tariffed the entire world, raised the tariffs on China to ridiculous levels blaming them because they had the nerve to fight back, fake paused the tariffs on Monday saying that the press reporting they were mulling a 90 day pause was "Fake News". Put out a potentially market manipulating "truth" on Wednesday then put on a 90 day pause, all while claiming 100's countries, including China, wanted to make deals. But no deals have been struck and his Elon is calling his Peter dumber than a sack of bricks and a moron in public which I happen to agree with.

He now rolls back the tariffs on the most important items, late on a Friday presumable to hide the further caving. All that does is help the tech billionaires while hurting the small time importers and exporters.

If you were going to declare a trade war on the world, don't you think you would put more thought into the planning and implementation than @Beechwood, or @HOLA , or @Seano does into a post on a karate sub forum's subforum?

Don't you think you'd have a plan that lasted more than a few days without major changes?

Oh and while we're at this,
Mexico didn't pay for the wall and there is no wall,
he didn't solve the Russian war on the Ukraine before he took office,
he is currently trying to prosecute his Nixon-like "Enemies" list for things like treason because they hurt his feewings by writing mean stuff about him and or doing their jobs as judges, investigators, watchdogs, and the like
he hasn't turned Palestine into a golf resort,
he is deporting supposedly innocent people to el salvador prisons and not bringing them back once the mistake is found,
his head of DOD signal chats classified war plans with journalist without knowing it,
he seems to want to invade Greenland,
and he didn't deport millions on day 1 and now wants to keep the ag workers and strangely the hotel workers but we're not supposed to believe that is because he has employed illegals for years in his shitty hotels,

he is a felon, a sexual assaulter, twice impeached, multiple times bankrupt, a cheater, a notorious liar, etc and so forth, yet some will piss on your head and tell you it isn't Trump getting his jollies....

In short, your post was a shit ton better than his tariff planning and you should not forgive that kind of incompetence.
I get what you're saying here and I approve but even at that you are giving that halfwit you're replying to too much credit, IMO.

Trump is a puss, everyone should have known, as I predicted, that he wasn’t going to hold true to any real long term move which caused pain.
So, all the uncertainty he has caused with his flip flopping isn't causing pain?

Easily the worst president of my lifetime. Fast food living, disinformation, prejudices and pandering made tons of idiots forget the first term. Fucking idiot president. Fucking idiot voters.

I was doing a lot better in Trumps first term than I did all through Bidens presidency. *shrug* In the midst of a damn pandemic, I was better off than now.

Nothing Trump has done this term has had an effect on me yet. It will eventually and remains to be seen if it'll be negative or positive.
LMAO you don't have the slightest inkling of the contradiction here, do you?

So, when Trump took office in 2016, coming into power with a strong economy inherited from the Obama administration, Trump gets all the credit for your prosperity at the time, but this time around he is not responsible for whatever shit is already hitting the fan due to his actions since assuming office, and after leaving Biden with an economic mess that Trump supposedly didn't cause either?

What a cretin, honest to fuck.

Why quote with a response that is completely irrelevant to what I said?
You said,
"I predicted, that he wasn’t going to hold true to any real long term move which caused pain."

He's doing exactly that. Flip flopping so many times on tariffs is, in some ways, worse than putting them on and leaving them on. Who is going to invest in the US with such ridiculous uncertainty as long as he is in office? Isn't that long-term enough for you?

Weren't you on the "the tariffs are just a negotiating tactic" bandwagon? That was your actual prediction, wasn't it?

I mean long lasting pain. Of course he’s caused absolute chaos, but it isn’t the world ending situation so many here were claiming it was.

It’s unnecessary pain though.
It’s like watching someone constantly put their hand in fire.
China needs to be reigned in but old man Trump is too arrogant and dumb for the job.
Hell they are talking about replacing Jerome Powell, I wonder what Fox News host gets that job.
