Trump wants massive military parade

It's the reasoning behind it that doesn't sit well with me. We have an insecure draft dodging president that just wants to show off the military. If a military general or someone with real credentials wanted to do something I would be more inclined to support it.

Any reasonable person knows exactly why Trump is doing it and it is NOT to honor the military

I think you are the one being unreasonable here - against an event to honor our servicemen just because you think Trump is being insecure. That is much more unreasonable to me.

What if it costs the USA lets say 5 billion dollars to put this parade on.

Would you rather have the parade or feed the homeless veterans?
Would you rather have the parade or provide health care to veterans in need?

There are just so many other things we cold do with the money and for what? For Trump to posture?

Would it be cool to see the military and all it's glory marching down Pennsylvania Ave? Of course it would but I'm sorry... Trump has no credibility on this issue and only wants to do it to stroke his ego.

We can agree to disagree on this I guess but at least we're having a a civil conversation that hasn't turned into a shit flinging contest

Certainly can agree to disagree. I see what you are saying, but I am less concerned on the meaning of the parade to Trump as much as I am all for honoring our armed forces.

I am not going to speculate on the pricing for such a parade, but I will say I am all for any and all additional money being poured into the VA and services to help our veterans in any way we can as well. Anything we can do for them, I am for 100%.

Why do we need a parade? We didn't have parades under Obama, Bush Jnr,Clinton,Bush Snr,Reagan,Carter,Nixon etc.. so why do we need one now.
 
Military parades = 3rd world , try-harder posturing by regimes that feel insecure.

If Obama had suggested this, guarantee that people would be comparing him to an African dictator.

That is not me saying we never honored them without a parade. Sorry.
 
Okay, I just had this crazy idea how we can honor our military. On one day we can honor the veterans who served and are currently serving. On the other day we can honor the memory of those who died while serving in the military.

I don't like the idea of having parades for several reasons:

1. They are a waste of money
2. Being in one is just a giant pain in the ass
3. Assuming that I have to be in one, I can only be about 60% drunk before someone starts noticing that I smell like booze, and what I need is to 120% drunk in order to not be pissed about being in a parade or how much time/money is being wasted
