You don't know any vets than. I got 5 that I see on a weekly basis. MANY I still communicate with online + ones that are still active duty. None of them thought that. Not even... myself that did 20 years active.

edit: OK let me walk this one back a little... the ACTUAL Marines and Soldiers in this parade are not having the greatest time. Walking for X amount of time/length, while in all kinds of gear, in whatever weather it was that day, most likely didn't volunteer for it, etc etc. I myself have been in countless parades, ceremonies, and presentations. Worst being the annual NATO/D Day ceremony in Normandy, France 2011. That practices were brutal and then standing perfectly still for 75 minutes totally sucked.

Anyone who claims to have friends who are thrilled about this, should just remind them that part of the oath they swore was to be silent professionals and not seek, nor expect praise.

NONE of us walked around a said anything that day or act thrilled. Mentioned it to each other and had no problem with it. Also... you never served so your comment is slightly (but not fully) irrelevant.

I can already tell you have never served, let alone deployed to a location with 10 other NATO countries on one base. I am not gonna automatically say we are "#1 better than all Oooorah!" But you are making it seem like dollars are pulling triggers and operating ships and tanks and we are somewhere towards last place. So out of the 190+ countries' militarys which place would you say the US is?

Secondly, IF Trump did "dodge" a draft keep in mind... that was for the Vietnam war. Hindsight 20/20 that was nothing but a drug bending meat grinder fought for no reason. My step dad had nothing good to say about his experience there.

I can respond more in depth if you care, but my main point would be: Regardless of whether or not some soldiers were happy for this parade, the greater picture would always be the oath we swore. That was to the Constitution. Not to a man, not to an office. The Constitution. Using in such an obvious political fashion, goes against that. This is a man who just a week previous, mocked the previous commander in chief in front of active duty soldiers. For fucks sake, they played Fortunate Son while they parachuted in to deliver a 5-time draft dodger a flag while his administration sang happy birthday.

The contract truck driver was part of a convoy that was removing tanks from the area on Monday night when the woman was killed, according to USA Today, which cited an internal Army document it obtained.
