Crime Trump vs Venezuela - "U.S. poised to strike military targets in Venezuela"

In before MAGAs start accusing people of being "pro-cartel".

"Fentanyl is a huge problem in the US and we need to address it!"

"Libs are soft on crime so of course they love the cartels"

"Dems want drugs in the US so they can gain votes. Drugs vote."

"We don't want cartel violence here so it's better to root out the problem now"

And so on and so forth

“I don’t think we’re necessarily going to ask for a declaration of war, I think we’re just gonna kill people that are bringing drugs into our country. We’re going to kill them. They’re going to be, like, dead.” - President Donald Trump

Other than B-52s making fake bombing runs on Venezuela, the world's biggest aircraft carrier being sent to the region, and the head of US Southern Command resigning (1 year into a 3 year term), not much to see.

it still seems unlikely to me that the US will invade because wars are a lot of work.

Unfortunately, the damage still accumulates. The international trading system relies on things like abiding by the rules of the sea (hint: randomly blowing up boats whether they be in territorial or international waters are against those rules) and accepting the sovereignty of other nations are pillars of that system. Not super interesting things for those who prefer reality tv style politics but kinda important to everybody else.

Not that far but yes, super poor.

Being super poor is a requirement for US attacks. Any country that can defend itself is off limits because... it can defend itself.

Iraq, Afghanistan, Somalia- all super poor.

Iraq actually had one of the largest standing armies in the world during both invasions.

Baghdad had a modernized (mostly Russian) anti-air defense system. It still is the most robust and complex air defense network ever penetrated in modern military history.

For comparison, Russia can't even gain limit air superiority let alone supremacy over Ukraine 20 years later facing off against their own air defense systems on their front porch after nearly 4 years of trying. And they're really trying.

, that sweet sweet oil.

Maduro is more than willing to give away oil in exchange for security, if the US wanted Venezuelan oil, they would just normalize relations with Maduro as he sells his oil for power.

This is mostly about refugees, 10 million Venezuelans are living abroad, more people left the country than in Syrian civil war, the collapse of Venezuela is something i guess most Americans can't understand.

I think they want to fix the country so that Venezuelans have a place to go back and the first step is to restore Constitutional order by allowing the elected president take power.

Iraq had seen 80 years of constant economic development before it got shitcanned. Not a poor country. They even had a hard powerful military, but none of that will save you from the American MIC.

I feel bad you're so naive and this is proof of why history repeats itself, just with a new layer of the same shit.

Watch the video I linked, he explains it very well and indepth.

TLDR: Its all about regime change because they want complete control of the resources and the MIC gets to wet their beaks as well with the mobilizations we're seeing and will see. Get rid of the current guy because of a vendetta, specifically Rubio has with Maduro, and install their own puppet who's ready and waiting.

CIA has done this shit time and time again. Maduro can give Trump whatever he wants, it's too late, hes marked for death/exile.

My guess its that its about migration, there are tons of Venezuelan refugees in the US who will refuse to get sent back until Maduro is gone, and rounding them up is going to be really hard.

Why accept Maduro's offer when they can just take everything plus more. The "plus more" is the MIC geting involved and paid as well.

You're right though. A regime change in Iraq or Afghanistan or Syria definitely led to less migration into the US not more lol

Its okay if you're not going to watch the video but that'll only fuel your ignorance and perhaps that's what you desire in order to approve of this administration's plan.

Moving on.

So it's looking like Trump is tired of killing random civilians in boats and wants to attack Venezuela proper now.

The Trump Administration has made the decision to attack military installations inside Venezuela and the strikes could come at any moment, sources with knowledge of the situation told the Miami Herald, as the U.S. prepares to initiate the next stage of its campaign against the Soles drug cartel. The planned attacks, also reported by the Wall Street Journal, will seek to destroy military installations used by the drug-trafficking organization the U.S. says is headed by Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro and run by top members of his regime.

Thoughts?

as long as it’s only the cartel targets as promised. no invasion. no actual war. just limited strikes.

What would be the Venezuelan equivalent of “Canadian bacon”?

Go for it. It's like they forgot that both China & Russia have serious interests in Venezuela and both of them have been sending a bunch of cargo planes over there recently. You're gonna have a nice proxy war going on in your own backyard, and all of America's enemies will happily support them vs. the US.

In the first war, Iraq had just come off their war against Iran so they had a ton of enlisted members but they were hapless. This is why the US completely tore through them.

They were in even worse shape by the second war. The sanctions through the 90s completely devastated them.
