Imagine if Obama had acted like this. He would be crucified by the rightwing as an Anti-American traitor, Marxist, Communist , Anti-Western etc..
But Trump essentially gets a pass from the rightwing who have a long history of calling liberals and Democrats as communists/socialists/Marxists . Trump's relationship with Putin shows the priviledge a White president, especially one on the right enjoys.

This is really something that he should have made a priority from day one but by all accounts has ignored. As I said to someone else, he says he asked Putin about it and the guy denied it. This isn't a Harrison Ford movie, it was a diplomatic meeting. There's not much more he could do man to man.

There was something he could do and that was not to push for this meeting at all.

That's really the best case scenario for Trump - that he is refusing to admit it because that delegitimizes his win over Hillary, and he's too insecure to admit that. He wants to be a big boy who did it all by himself, and everyone loves him, and Hillary only got more votes because of 2 trillion illegals.

Unfortunately the abundance of information we now have points to something far more sinister.

Finally he has some dirt on the president of the most powerful nation in the world and can basically let him do what he wants like a true puppet master..
