International Trump/Putin Summit

Why do liberals hate Russia so much? What did Russia ever do to them? Its their country they can run it how they want to

Got-dayum.

I didn't know you had it in you to be so savage to a staff member. That was pretty good. I also agree about arguing with old people or people set in their ways. They stop caring about the truth and new information, and instead defend their worldview, wherever they land on that.
I'll freely admit with my mom it's because she grew up in post WWII Japan.. like, not even a decade post WWII outside of Hiroshima so she can get very... moto to steal a term... in support of the US.

As to staff savagery... I can't stand Mir with his name tattoo'd on his own back and fucking pubic hair looking cigaretty looking beard.

We have a few, like radical Islam. Other than that, the Cold War ending should be a good thing in and of itself.
And China is the real threat.
There are three predator nations around right now: the US, China and Russia. I would rather have a friendly Russia than a hostile one. Trump taking steps to end decades of hostility is a move in the right direction, IMO. It's a start and we will see where it leads, but I'm not going to self combust over it ne way or the other.
Gotcha, but this isn't a point of disagreement with anyone. Of course we all prefer peace and pursuit of common interests with other nations. But the problem with Russia is they would love nothing more than the fall of liberal democracies and the US is very much the boogeyman in their propaganda (state run media), regardless of Trump's praise. We have to decide what to do with leaders that do not share our interest and actually profit from us becoming weaker. Repeating that you want to be friends is not helpful. Calling Putin the man will not stop them from fucking with out elections in 2020 or demonizing America.

He was a moron for saying it but remember the same people jumping up and down while screaming ITT right now, applauded him for saying it then. The same people who call 'context' a 'whataboutism'

So are you trying to score gotcha team points , Or do you want to be factually correct here ?

Just a daily reminder that Russia was not a problem until AFTER Hillary lost the election. "Russia meddling" was brought up to Obama and he buried and ignored it because he like every other Democrat thought Hillary had it in the bag.

He ignored it by having the FBI open up an investigation into it?

Never in my life have I seen or heard a sitting POTUS question American intelligence agencies abroad to an enemy of the State.

It's unfuckingreal what this asshole is willing to do to shit on his country.

Didn't we just question an FBI agent under oath for possibly colluding to stop said president from winning the election?

Pointing out to Obama, in some cases, is just a matter of pointing out political realities to the most partisan members of the forum, before they get too carried away in their criticisms.

No worries though, "standing up to Russia" will always be seen as a measuring stick for the strength of an American president's foreign policy. Trump will be no different. When it comes down to it, boosting his popularity domestically by taking a "hard-line" stance against Russia, is going to be more important than maintaining hospitable relations with Russia.

The "threat from the East" card, has always been too good of a card not to be played. It has been in effect for the better part of the last 80 years.

No, see you guys what to live in the history of now and expect everyone to forget what you said 5 minutes ago, you know 'whataboutisms'

Idk, maybe it's the brutal dictatorship, human rights violations, murders of anyone critical of the regime, their meddling in western democracies, etc.. Take your pick.

Also, this was not partisan pre-Trump. Regan is rolling in his grave...

Why can't the right EVER admit when Trump screws up? I mean it's getting really comical and pathetic at this point. Trump could wash Putins feet and his supporters would just go along with it and call us liberals crybabies and make up arguments that no one is making. It's really unfortunate
What did he screw up?

Let me ask you this- in your opinion, what should Trump have done? Relived his WWE stint?
You don't just spit on the other half of the worlds nuclear power, especially in a press conference.

It was unnerving watching Fox News Sunday yesterday when Wallace was asking his guests about why the meeting was taking place and nobody could answer what the purpose of the meeting was or even what Trump's positions would be across the issues, nor could anyone find any precedent for a POTUS meeting like this or why Trump wouldn't have someone (e.g. Pompeo) with him.. Add Trump's questioning of US intelligence all along to his bleating back Putin's claim of innocence all along, to Trump firing Comey for his work on this investigation and Trump then telling the Russian it relieved great pressure, to his calling Meuller's investigation a witch hunt even after being briefed by Rosenstein last week, to his response to the DOJ's indictments of blaming Obama without even one negative word about Putin, to his condoning the behavior of the Russian intelligence agents as them just doing their jobs, equals what you would expect from someone who has engaged in some type of conspiracy with Putin, particularly with his statements about the EU last week along with him advocating for Russia to be brought back into the G8. Even the most doctrinaire MAGA folks can't address these issues with reasonable arguments beyond "deep state, everyone in US intelligence is lying but Trump" and "show us the server" and "bbbut Obama", which is exactly what the Russian propaganda trolls are encouraging them to say.

How about shooting down a civilian airliner over Ukraine, murdering political enemies in other countries, just little things like that.

We'll see, I suppose.
I'm not too concerned with rhetoric; it's politics.
The US is trashed by the media of our so-called allied al the time, it's nothing new.

It's almost like Trump is behaving as Putin's asset
I don't think he's smart enough for Putin to view as an asset in the most common sense like the way cops use CIs...

To Putin, Trump is a useful idiot.

What did that dude have to say?
Basically parroting the President. Questioning the assessment that led to the recent GRU indictments.

He actually asked if the way we got the information(for the most recent indictments) was by "spying" on, and "hacking" the Russian GRU agents. He said it with derision towards the investigation, and the concept. Essentially that same argument as, "Are we really so innocent?", but in a specific context.
