International Trump/Putin Summit

What’s your take on Putin / Russia these days? Simple enemies of ours, or more nuanced?
My opinion, actively working against our national interests and undermining our elections = simple enemy

I don't know that it could be defined as anything else unless we're going to ignore what they're doing.

He was a moron for saying it but remember the same people jumping up and down while screaming ITT right now, applauded him for saying it then. The same people who call 'context' a 'whataboutism'
There was nothing wrong with flexibility comment, it referred to congress blocking everything Obama tried to do due to the election season. Obama tried to work with Russians, they were not having it, so he took a tougher stance.

One where we cooperate with each other on our mutual interests.
What do you do with leaders/countries that don't want to cooperate and in which we don't have mutual interests?

During Trump's administration we're seeing people on the right claim this is good, that the US will have better relations with Russia. Trump has done nothing but praise Putin and the right loves it. Yet, Putin is showing simulations of missiles reaching the United States and is pumping as much anti-US propaganda as ever. The love fest is very one sided.

We have to acknowledge that they don't want to be friends with the US!! We don't have mutual interests...

It doesn't matter. Your asking trump to admit that the Russian Government is the reason he won. That's what admitting that would mean and his ego wont allow it.

That's not even what it's about. The fact that Trump can't see past his own ego and do what's best for the country as a whole is a good part of the reason he's such a failure as president.

Question for all the TDS victims spazzing all over this thread: is the US having at least better relations with their only existential threat a good thing or a bad thing and why?

And the left went from ‘why is America always creating propaganda enemies to fight’, to ‘THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!!! THE RUSSIANS ARE COMING!!! Putin is Literally Hitler!!’

Since 2012 Russia invaded a sovereign country without any provocation and we just indicted 12 Russian intelligence officials for illegally interfering in our election.

Which pivot seems rational?

The one that ends with Mad Dog unleashing MOABs on Russian military installations.

I was talking about him mocking Romney

Trump is an unstoppable force for the American people. He hires only the best people. Pays to bang porn stars. Makes great economic decisions, such as tariffs on our closest allies. You guys think a man as smart and awesome as Trump would be a cuck to Russia?

Never in my life have I seen or heard a sitting POTUS question American intelligence agencies abroad to an enemy of the State.

It's unfuckingreal what this asshole is willing to do to shit on his country.

We have a few, like radical Islam. Other than that, the Cold War ending should be a good thing in and of itself.
And China is the real threat.
There are three predator nations around right now: the US, China and Russia. I would rather have a friendly Russia than a hostile one. Trump taking steps to end decades of hostility is a move in the right direction, IMO. It's a start and we will see where it leads, but I'm not going to self combust over it one way or the other.

This is like discussing politics with my mom as all of what she gets comes from the TV.

I'll freely admit I probably am on the right hand side of the center line but cross over on some of the social issues. But talking over stuff with my mom especially, not so much my dad even though he turns 80 next month... is like banging my head against a wall.
Got-dayum.

I didn't know you had it in you to be so savage to a staff member. That was pretty good. I also agree about arguing with old people or people set in their ways. They stop caring about the truth and new information, and instead defend their worldview, wherever they land on that.

Is this the post 2016 version of the Bush card?

:p
I know you're just joking here, but there are times when it's valid. For example, we'll be paying for Trump's tax cuts after he's out of office (even if he get's reelected) but it won't stop idiots from blaming Democrats for deficits in the future.

Our intelligence agencies are a corrupt joke.

I like @Fawlty @Jack V Savage and @HomerThompson , but you guys are all a classic, if differently 3-pronged example of how insane people can get when the topic is politics.

‘ Agree with me, or else: ’

A) you are not smart (says Jack)
B) you are not well-informed (says Fawlty)
C) you are a fucking idiot (says Homer)

I still love u guys
Says the guy saying if you ask questions about trump and Russia's involvement in the election you want war with Russia and putin is hitler
