The intelligence agencies with absolute power to protect and defend America should have done something- and since that didn't happen elected officials should have responded by axing swaths of intelligence officials or outright stripping power from those agencies.

Eastern sections of the Ukraine are ethnically Russian though and those populations could possibly face some adverse discrimination from National Militia and other elements. Referendums in Donbass etc overseen by UN or whoever should be enacted and borders negotiated.

CIA operations aren't investigations. That's why that agency is so effective- they operate under a shroud of secrecy and have few people they answer to.

It's also the reason for The Patriot Act, NDAA, NSA spying, etc unconstitutional laws in place for worst case what-if scenarios that threaten our democracy- like hostile nation intervention in our elections.
