Most of the Italians and Irish who came here were settled in ghettos got little support were ostracized and often had little choice but to do shady shit to get by or else live in squalor. When people were freaking out about the whole "you'll never have to vote again" stuff he said, they went with the idea he meant he wanted to be president for life.

No, he just doesn't care about the next election or the future of the Republican party because he would have already pardoned himself and avoided jail and he cant run again so he doesnt give a shit what happens after that.

If he doesn't win, he will become politically radioactive almost instantly and the shift to distance from him will start right after the election is called. He'll be calling for a civil war and the rats will be heading for the sides of the ship as fast as possible.

It was a hard start for a lot of these people coming here, assimilation was difficult at first as they were being thrown into neighborhoods with their own kind (I'm speaking specifically of Kings County NY, as thats where 2 sets of my great grandparents landed, one of whom I knew).
They couldn't get hired outside their neighborhood so they were reliant on whatever skill they brought over with them being useful to the other poor people in their neighborhood or they committed crimes. The other option was not being able to feed their kids. No EBT card getting charged every month back then. No youtube guys out giving them hamburgers for views. No liberal politicians posing for the camera in front of them with tears in their eyes in their 2000 dollar designer outfit.
