Alan Dershowitz Warns That One of Trump's Executive Orders Might Not Survive in Court
Constitutional law attorney Alan Dershowitz is warning that one of President Donald Trump's Day One executive actions might not survive a legal challenge already lodged against it.
Shortly after he was sworn in, Trump issued an executive order—titled "Protecting the Meaning and Value of American Citizenship"—that tightens the grounds on which U.S. citizenship will be granted to those born in America.
In an episode of "The Dershow," a skeptical Dershowitz said that while he believes birthright citizenship was "a dumb idea," he doesn't think Trump can nullify it through executive action.
Hours into Trump's presidency, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) launched a lawsuit over the executive order, arguing that it violates the 14th Amendment. Although Trump had considered ending birthright citizenship during his first term, he never issued an order on it until now.....

Executive Orders cannot modify the Constitution, and lot of times they can be unactionable and thus pointless (ie Trump's EO on gender that actually declared everyone female). EO's are directives for federal agencies and institutions, so one has to consider A) who is responsible for what is being addressed, and B) how can the directives be put into action and enforced.

The biggest place they "hide" is in the factories, and road crews, construction sites, and restaurants and golf courses, like Trumps.
we've always known they were there and Governor like Ron DeSantis were overheard,in the past telling the business community to not panic as they will not come round them up, as they know it would collapse whole industries in their State.
So while maga will pay lip service to this and make a few high profile trophy busts, the vast majority will be left alone, as always has been the case by MAGA.

It’s clear that you’re struggling with a major misunderstanding, and I think maybe it is “subject to” that you aren’t understanding. It’s ok, I am here for you.
I rarely witness a sherwoker continuously drop in IQ as they continue to post in a thread, but you're one of the rare ones.
According to you, all these people below are subject to the jurisdiction thereof. They've all entered illegally, and subject to the jurisdiction thereof. Entering illegally has consequences. So post the list of names of all 1.7M people below and a brief description of how they're being held accountable. There are 1.7M of them, so you can just post a Google docs link if you want.
These supposed “gotaways” are simply people who….wait for it…got away and evaded capture. That doesn’t mean they aren’t subject to our jurisdiction, they certainly will be if they are apprehended.
—You understand that US citizens do this too, right? A citizen can commit a crime, police get called, they flee and successfully (for the time being anyway) get away.
That has nothing whatsoever to do with whether they are subject to the jurisdiction of the police or of our laws. if they get apprehended, they’ll be charged, go to court, stand trial, etc. Same is true for undocumented immigrants. “Subject to” simply means that one is under the sovereign authority of the US in that they can be charged, tried, sentenced, etc. It doesn’t necessarily mean that there is a legal case happening at this moment.

Seems like a pretty clearly unconstitutional violation of their 1st Amendment rights and probably 5th Amendment rights too. Hopefully will get struck down quickly. We’ll see if Trump respects the courts’ decisions when it happens.
Oh I never had any doubt that he’d keep his words when it came to brutalizing immigrants, minorities, women, or even liberals at large if he can.
It’s things like grocery prices and health care that I expect him to fully fumble.

I didn’t figure you’d comment about the unconstitutionality of it. After all, it’s only “them” right? You guys have never given a fuck about “them,” or “their” rights, whomever that happens to be. You only care about yours.
Horrendous waste of money.
Horrendous abuse of rights.
Will almost certainly be inhumane it’s its scope and practice.
Will be terribly damaging to the economy if it occurs on the levels being discussed.
