Elections Trump is rigging the Republican primary, by not having one

The much bigger problem imo is that the presidential election cannot be separated from the two-party system you have.

It is the presidential election itself that promotes the formation of two large parties. Nothing else in our system gives a stronger incentive to forming two large mega parties than most parliamentary systems. I don't see it as much of a problem.

The only serious challenge to an incumbent President in my lifetime was Reagan taking on Ford in 1976. To the best of my recollection, the two never met for debates.

You forget Carter/Kennedy in 1980, a far more significant challenge. Some historians believe that face-off "broke" the democratic party and ultimately gave Reagan the victory in the general.

Remember when righties got all pretend offended because Hillary rigged the 2016 primary?

Well, atleast Hillary still allowed a primary to happen.

No debates, not voting. Just Trump being gifted the nomination without actually having to win it.

How did that work out for the Dems, righties?

You know some people call elections the free market of politics.

When you rig the market, it tends to have blowback in keeping weak too big to fail, and jail failures in power.

If your scared go to church, don't cower from having elections and debates.

Discuss........

So you created this thread just to WHINE about Trump being the INCUMBENT basically. (and historically, Incumbents 99% get re-elected for a 2nd term)

That's all this is.

Complaining about whether there is Primaries or no Primaries.....it's a load of a bull.

A fucking cover to cry about the fact that a washed-up old fart with one foot in the grave (Bernie) will NEVER be the nominee or President.

Had to look it up though, didn't remember because primaries are now almost 2 months earlier than back then, and there wasn't nearly such a clear field and clear standings going into them, like we have today.

It's cute to see Democrats so worried about the Republican Primaries, when theirs is such a farce. They even went as far as trying to disqualify Republicans from running in primaries and not allow them on the ballot, even if they are ahead in ALL the polls.

Here’s a rational piece of advice for you so you won’t be too disappointed in 2020. All of these investigations and impeachment talks by the Dems are only helping Trump. I know you won’t/can’t understand that with your mindset, but that’s how it’s going. America loves an underdog, Clinton’s popularity went through the roof after his “impeachment”. Most Americans said who gives a shit if he perjured himself about a blowjob, let me know when it’s actually a serious crime. Trump is being catapulted to new heights with these investigations within the sane vein. Can you imagine if Pelosi has to walk this back? The fresh faces will go on the spectrum and further split your party. Right now the Republicans have a plethora of things to rally around, the Dems....well just look at the candidate field. You might want to rethink you’re argument so you won’t be so disheartened later on. I think you cried wolf a little too much and now if this one doesn’t stick (which is looking everyday like it won’t) I don’t think the Dem party can come back from it. The Dems need a monumental defeat so they can pick up the pieces and rebuild the party. It’s not very inviting at the moment

I mean...

What a goof!

Alex, did you purposely create this wall of text without proper spacing?

Here. I'll help you out in making it a bit more read-able :

Not that facts seem to matter at all, but 25% of incumbents seeking reelection have lost since 1900.

This thread is a thin veil to whine about Bernie though. You are very right about that

Good, go ahead and let them undemocratise their party's process. If the shoe drops before the election, they'll pay for it.

What the hell are you on about? We all want Trump. Do you actually think anybody else would best him and replace him for 2020? The other party doesn’t even have an answer LOL
???? We want Trump. We want Trump???
Whose we? Aren't you a Canuck? Is Trump busing in Canadians for votes now?
