The American people wanted Trump and voted him in. No need for Republicans to try finding a new candidate.
@VivaRevolution
It's ok, they're shooting themselves in the foot with this.
It's very likely Trump will be a dead commodity by the time the election rolls around with all this mess going on. Depriving themselves of a primary just in case that happens means they're basically punting 2020.
democracy is a joke anywaysMoar proof Murka is an oligarchy that zhits all over democracy.

Not that facts seem to matter at all, but 25% of incumbents seeking reelection have lost since 1900.
This thread is a thin veil to whine about Bernie though. You are very right about that

This is what is so pervasive on the right. You dont see people that arent aligned with you politically as your countrymen. Like at all. It doesnt matter what your side" does as long as the people you perceive as your enemy "the left" lose. Its crazy. You'll forgive any misgiving so long as there is an R next to their name. What the hell are you on about? We all want Trump. Do you actually think anybody else would best him and replace him for 2020? The other party doesn’t even have an answer LOL

I dont disagree with you, but this is total whataboutery. They're both bad, and both "sides" should feel badIt's the exact same for both sides and it's sad. The majority of Democrats are willing right now to vote for a 76 year old suspectedphile with obvious dementia just because they think he can beat Trump.
I don't care what it's called. It's just my response to your post strictly calling out "the right" for this nonsense. It's not party specific. Everyone seems to be putting their own best interests aside just so "their team" can win.I dont disagree with you, but this is total whataboutery. They're both bad, and both "sides" should feel bad
Really? Didn't know about that.
Can you provide a list of PRESIDENTIAL incumbents who lost since 1900? (or you could just provide a link to that so I can see)
25% is a pretty substantial number.
I had to look it up. Still 75% win rate is pretty severe.
https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.washingtonexaminer.com/the-five-incumbent-presidents-who-lost?_amp=true
14 wins and 5 losses for incumbents.
OldBush, Carter, Ford, Hoover, and Taft.
I'd always assumed it was even more in favor of the incumbents too.
Thanks for that.
Not saying Trump becomes loss # 6 since the Dems don't have anyone worth shit to challenge him but it's very interesting to see it's not as rare as we thought.
It is the presidential election itself that promotes the formation of two large parties. Nothing else in our system gives a stronger incentive to forming two large mega parties than most parliamentary systems. I don't see it as much of a problem.
