What you said in your post essentially means that you don't trust the media/press and that it's all stacked against Trump anyway. So the question is, if you are inherently doubting the information that's out there, there is either some information you trust or you have no information at all. And if you have no information at all then I don't see how one could form a perspective on the subject.
It just sounds like you pick and choose what you want to believe.. which in my mind isn't much different than the media picking and choosing what and how to report news.

I guess it would depend how fine of a line he walked. To me this hypothetical situation would be best for him since he wouldn't have to really battle Trump in the primaries, going back and forth with him and pissing off the MAGA faithful. If he could simply get that crowd by dangling the pardon, saying he is going to stand up for Trump without having to go full on MAGA mode which, like you said, could hurt him with the independents/moderates.

At this point it would absolutely tank him with moderates and independents. Pandering to Trumpism only works in GOP primary voting, this was born out in the last election cycle. Again the problem is DeSantis has no real balls. Everyone was worried he was going to be worse than Trump but I'm not seeing that. He projects almost no strength as an authoritarian, he cant even keep Disney under control and was publicly humiliated by them. No one on the GOP carries the charisma needed for what they're proposing, and their brand of fascism is proving even more laughably incompetent than movements that actually did acquire power. They couldn't even wait until they controlled all branches of Federal Government and successfully nullified the majority of voters before they started turning on each other.
