Even so, I think it's very sad that merely running for office shields you from the consequences of your actions if you're rich and popular enough. Particularly since if he wins he can pardon himself (the current supreme court will condone it) and face none whatsoever. The judge made a huge mistake in terms of damaging respect for the justice system, IMHO.

DOJ needs to take Donold's passport. He said in his Elon Musk interview that if he loses, he's going to Venezuela. Also, he was saying at the NY Economic leader forum this week that their next meeting needs to be held there. Coincidence that he's hyping up Venezuela so much?

Judge Merchan has to follow his conscience. He felt that sentencing the Orangina Antichrist to jail this close to the election would tilt the field, I get it. However, I favor Judge Chutkan's take... ie) This isn't about an election, it's about a criminal proceeding. It's disappointing that the judge seemingly caved to pressure from the right wing mafia, but it is what it is.

Unfortunate, but in the end, as more than a couple of commentators have pointed out... the courts aren't going to save America, Americans are the only hope, and it'll be at the ballot box.


The mistake that Merchan is making here is in thinking that delaying sentencing until November 26th would somehow satisfy the chuds, it won't. After the election, win or lose it will revert to attacking him, his family, the DOJ. It's terribly naive to believe that any degree of favorable treatment will stop the attacks. It is NEVER enough for a chud, they are ravenous. There is definitely bias in the judicial system, but it is so very obviously tilted in Mr. Trump's favor.

This one is going to take me some time to contemplate…

On one hand, I would like Justice to be served.

But on the other hand, he will get the mark of a criminal in all but time being served due to his advanced age and “First Offenses”.

Or… I also see no problem letting him leave to Venezuela and let them deal with him, with his remaining few years of dementia.
