If it's been going on for DECADES then it definitely sounds like Biden is 100% to blame.
I was almost surprised he didn't see that coming and quit while he was behind and then I realised, of course he didn't, what was I thinking <lmao>

Funny how the haters on the left are reduced now to just making personal attacks in the guise of topical humor.
Yuck it up as you kick your dog and yell at the mirror,
Sad.

I'd like to think you're right but the Canadian parliament is in an emergency session (last I heard a little while ago on the news) and the PM is meeting with all the provincial premiers tomorrow; they don't sound like they think it's just a bluff. Having said that though, it could be contingency planning as well--that would be wise even if you think it's just for leverage in negotiations.

Yeah, I think it's a bit of contingency planning but it's also good to show they're taking it somewhat serious, especially considering their current relationship. The last thing you want is everyone just laughs at Dump and his ego ends up torpedoing everyone, including himself.

Everyone just needs to play the game and I'm fairly certain the end result is strong trade between US, Mexico and Canada.

I was thinking the same thing as the bold text. They have to put on a good show for him regardless so he doesn't have a tantrum. Here's to hoping.

We've seen this before. Last time is was a year of nominal implementation of tariffs on a few select areas until the 2020 USMCA signing then everything reset. 2026 USMCA renewal will probably have the same effect.

I think the most of out the box likelihood could be new bilateral agreements over just a singular trilateral; which is by far more beneficial to the US if their focus is immigration, drugs and cheap labor. Especially if we see a continuation of CDN public investment into Geo Group and the like.

When was Trump's first day? I must have missed it.

Do you guys ever get tired of saying 'oh ho ho ho just wait' and then the thing never happens?

He's not going to put a 25% tarriff on imports. He's signaling to his neighbour's to get their act together.

Like when you were a kid and your dad said 'quiet down or I'm gonna turn this car around.'
What's with you freaks and punishing children?

Last week @SKYNET was talking about how Trump is going to spank little girls and now you're talking about turning around the car and making the kid go back home lol.

Some of you guys were not hugged enough and it shows.

MAGA going broke to own the libs. Got to admire the dedication I guess

Joking aside, I really hope Trump gets talked out of this nonsense. As much as I think MAGA deserves a bit of karma it's not worth dragging down the rest of the country that didn't vote for it.

It's a similar situation. There will be a review and likely renegotiation. Everyone just needs to play the game and it will all work out.

US and Canada will be fine. US and Mexcio may be more complicated. Immigration, illegals, drugs and cheap labor are all more prevalent there. Also, Mexico ships way more than it buys, has wayyyyy less direct investment and doesn't bring in that much service industry from the US.

I'm sure they will work something out but like i said, I think bilateral agreements going forward will be focused over trilateral

Another great move that will help the average American worker afford more goods!

No one seems to have answered why he's only doing 10% on China.

How does this affect American auto markers who build their cars in Mexico and Canada?

US get a shit load more manufacturering jobs and loses large segment of buyers. Whether or not that cancels out each other isn't known The real issue is parts, which can cross the boarders 8 times before being installed - although the US is actively looking to streamline this.

Realistically the US could in theory absolutely dominate by owning companies that exclusively design and build cars in each country - neither Mexico or Canada has ever showed a willingness to invest in their own home grown manufacturing industry. Avoiding tariffs all together (mexico and Canada probably wouldn't tax us auto companies because it's jobs and competition)

Asia and Europe could fill gaps.

But realistically no tariffs on cars will happen.
