International Trump admin - Sure, bring your lions back.....

I did some quick searches on here and through a major search engine. I'm good with my opinion that condemnation of trophy-hunting works up more people than factory-farming. If you wanna prove something you go right ahead.
Ok, great. I do. So lets bet then.

Simple bet that in more threads I can find Factory Farming mentioned than you can Trophy Hunting.

Not every post as that would take too long. Any thread it mentioned counts as 1. I'll go first. I will post up a certain amount of threads, and you post that many plus 1 or more and so on until one of taps out.

Av and Sig bet for a month.

Accept?

And remember my position is not that there are not people who talk about Trophy hunting as I know there are and they do. it is a reply to your position that Factory farming does not get attention like this. That is wrong, at least on this forum, and I am willing to bet to prove it.

I grew up hunting deer.
These Lions hunts are not sporting. They run the lion toward the hunter, and its like shooting fish in a barrel.
If they want to keep the lion as a trophy, it needs to be killed with an arrow or in hand to hand combat, with nothing more than a spear, axe or knife. Nothing sporting about standing on the back of a truck/jeep waiting for them to run the lion towards you.

Not that I'm interested anyway, but counting a single mention the same as large numbers of replies seems like a flawed way to measure.

Wee can do the other. But one thread can have umpteen mentions as arguments rage on. Many a Vegan/Factory Farming thread has been shut down as they hit the limit in flame wars so that can be a lot of singular posts.

I was thinking just referring to when it got raised in a thread, and in how many threads would be more indicative but if that is how you want to frame the bet, I am good.

Lets do it.

That's way too much work for no gain. Is this a personal issue for you? Kudos if so. Maybe you could just start a thread with a poll asking which is more justifiable, trophy-hunting or factory-farming? I'll accept that result as proving me right or wrong.

That's not the question.

You said Factory Farming does not get this type of attention on this forum and I pointed it out, it certainly does. And you dug in on that so I proposed a bet.

What did you point out, other than you believe it's a fact my impression is wrong?

I didn't dig in. I said it's fine to have a difference of opinion and it wasn't worth my effort to define parameters and do quantitative WR research. Then I suggested a simpler way to settle it, that I'd agree to and required no work on my part. Sounds fair to me. You have the opportunity to change my mind, but apparently aren't motivated to do so unless there's a bet attached. I'm even less interested in betting than I am putting in work. :)

I can hear the tears hitting the keyboard in the OP. Grow up TS.

Why do people who haven't matured past the age of 14 always think compassion or care about issues is akin to crying? Fuckin' weirdos.

This may be the most frustrating thing about a certain segment of the population who react that way to any move towards compassion. These people really are genuinely un-evolved as human beings but they are also loud and often times influential and they hold humanity back.

It is so disheartening to see them confidently mock ideas that would lift all of humanity upwards.

Wrong and not just a little bit.
Yet another idiot making a statement he knows nothing about.
Don’t be so rough on yourself, a self aware idiot is better off than the ones that have no clue.

Your OP mixed hunters in with poachers in a way that sounded extra whiny. I hunt, and I report poachers. Don't be disingenuous and I won't think you're a crybaby.

Was I speaking of America? Oh, no, I wasn't. Glad that's cleared up for you now.

Can anyone make a case for my sparing some outrage?

On extending my sympathy towards big cats, especially lions, being subject to human hunting as they themselves are hunters?

Are they not subject to the cruelties of nature already? Are they not misogynistic and oppressive masters of infanticide?

@ Few tears for Cecil, anyone who is interested may Google "In Zimbabwe, We Don't Cry for Lions,"

It is blocked in my preferred police state (as are all NYT articles.), and if I must have outrage, I prefer to save it for police states that make a habit of making wholesale slaughter out of actual endangered species.
