Social Trans people being removed from the military by Trump for being mentally unfit.

Depends on what it's for imo.

Nah, that's wrong, it only depends if it's in some extreme excess over others that served, I'm sure if you compared the welfare spending between different demographics within the military it's roughly similar.

If you serve you have the right to use the medical or educational benefits provided for your service as you see fit. It's not freedom for the government to tell you how to spend what you've earned.

That's also under the assumption everyone who identified as Trans had some form of surgery. I somehow doubt that many had some sort procedure.

VA insurance does not cover any of those procedures. Most private insurers don't cover or only partially cover these type of procedures. It's basically fan fiction people are joining the military to get their dicks cut off.

If service members are getting those types of procedures they're paying for almost all if not all of it out of pocket with money they earned through service. If they were, the total spend would be a hell of a lot more than $420 per year.

this report from jan 2024 says "Between January 1, 2016 and May 14, 2021, DOD reportedly spent approximately $15 million to provide gender-affirming care(surgical and non-surgical care) to 1,892 servicemembers."

not sure if @kflo 's post is accurate, however if true, then there has been millions of dollars spent on gender affirming care paid by the DOD since 2016 - i don't recall someone saying that people were joining the military specifically to have their dicks cut off.

That's only $1300 per person over 6 years.

For the article posted, it specifies 1892 persons, not the entirety of trans identifying soldiers. However re-reading the article it also talks about 'dependents' which I'm assuming is a soldiers family - it is not clear to me upon re-read whether therese 1892 persons (during those years) received the care for themselves or for their dependents.

I'm not saying it's their fault. What's been done has been done and this is going forward. And Biden did make it ok. Ultimately there are a myriad of physical and mental health issues that can prevent one from service. Even things from OCD to seizures can prevent one from serving or result in medical discharge.

Dependents or otherwise it doesn't really change the reality that all service members earn medical benefits for themselves and their families nor does it appear to be exceptionally costly. I would assume the level of care and expense is relative to non-trans persons yearly medical expenses. It's just been broken down this way over politics.

The military is a place for people to find a job that can't find work in the regular job market. Trans people in general have a hard time finding jobs because of people's existing biases against them and/or their appearance. This seems unreasonably cruel even for Trump.

If non-debilitating mental illness makes someone unfit to serve, we'd literally have no military.
Holy shit.
You couldn't possibly be wronger.

The whole thing seems very political - If the person, regardless of what they identify as, are battle ready, can pass whatever requirements there are necessary, then let them be soldiers.

Well some of the trannies don't have balls. Because they got them removed.

Are you suggesting that if we lose the chicks with dicks that our military will fall apart to the extent that we can't defend ourselves from Canada?
If anything, chicks with dicks may be one of the few reasons Canada will want to invade you

It's not what's done has been done, they're trying to kick out active service members. If you wanted to disallow trans from enlisting going forward, your statement would make sense.

They're trying to kick out service members who have already been serving for years.

Again, many things disqualify active service and they get medically discharged if a health issue is discovered. It IS unfortunate that they were caught up in this debate. Ultimately it is what mental and physical ailments qualify/disqualify one from service. There are lots and this one being more political than something like OCD or depressive disorders is much tougher.

This is just total bullshit, for the overwhelming majority of trans it's non-debilitating. Trump and his supporters just think they're icky. It's childish bullshit.

If you wanted to say certain individual trans in service have issues so debilitating they can't serve, but all en masse? That's bullshit and discriminatory.

Do you know what the phrase non-debilitating means?

Totally not debilitating, according to you.
