Rumored Topuria REFUSES Fight vs Arman/Contenders - Wants Title Fight ONLY Reportedly

It's not going to happen. The UFC wouldn't give him a title shot against Islam already which is why he vacated. Islam said no, is a bigger star and brings in Abu Dhabi money. He will at least need a dominant high profile LW win to get the shot, possibly 2.

Volk had how many title defences? You don't get one title defence and move up for the title in this day and age which is why he had to vacate.

If Topuria had a good few defences at Featherweight then I got little problem with him challenging for the belt at Lightweight, only he's sorely lacking there, so if he wants a crack at Lightweight gold he has to take a fight with someone in the top 5.

Going through Arman is a well earned, deserved title shot.

Max was the only really decent win in there.

It's possible he did what you're saying but where did you read he was assured a shot? Dana never said that. Dana said he gave it up b/c 1) he can't make the weight anymore and 2) he feels he's accomplished everything there is at FW

While Dana has no credibility on this stuff it also just seems your logic is "well why else would he vacate." And the reality is, Dana's 2 reasons during the press conference answer your logic/question perfectly.

I don't know what to believe but I do know there are 3 camps here:
- Ilia should get immediate shot now
- Ilia should get a shot after a win over a top 5 LW
- Ilia should get a shot after defending vs Lopes and Movsar

I'm fine with either of the last 2. I'm not upset at the first but that means we almost surely won't get Arman/Islam 2 or Charles/Islam 2 and I'm not cool w/ that but it is what it is.
