I am so happy to have an exciting fighter like Ilia in a time when the fight cards have been weaker. He has done everything he has suppose to, however I feel like people kind of look past or try to paint Jai Hebert as an elite fighter when he is 3-5-1 in the UFC. Ilia did find the KO later, but he got rocked the worst he ever has in his entire career by his own admission.

While he has improved since those fights, this is our objective look on how well he would do at a higher weight class. He is very small for 155, shit even for 145 he isn't that big at 5'7. Just because you get fat and and gain 10kg between your fights doesn't mean you are big. Compare former champs Benson Henderson or RDA and they look WAY bigger and weigh pretty close to what Topuria claims his walking weight is.

If he is getting dropped by a Journeyman who wins less than half their fights, what do you think a Joel Alvarez kind of fighter does to him?

He always has a punchers chance, but the hype train is ridiculous. There is reason 145ers rarely go to 155, its because of the size and skill difference. Islam would have hurt this guy badly and is lucky he moved up.

If Ilia would be at LW this would eventually happen to him. It almost did in his very first fight where as Islam got cracked once in over 18 UFC fights.

This was over 10 years ago and Islam has become the most accomplished Lightweight ever and the P4P #1.

Ilia has beaten old dudes with super mileage where as Islam fought the best of best at a higher and more competitive weight class.

He got his title shot off of beating King "Bobby" Green.

Trying to discredit beating Volk and Max is trash. Volk just beat Diego Lopez and Max beat Justin Gaethje before their fight. Not going to let you create a bogus narrative that reflects your obvious biased take.

Thats true, Ilia has 8 UFC fights... hes last 3 fights are against guys who are 40, 36 and 33

And now he fights against 35 year old Charles

The most impressive thing he has done was a Max tko, but thats a worn down Max

Beating Volk and Max who are old as fuck and way past their prime doesn't compare to wins over Charles, Dustin, Arman. I would pick any of those guys to beat Topuria. Max looked peak crackhead after his last cut to 145 and should have moved up years ago.

Dustin beat Max twice and made him look like he didn't belong. Volk is the oldest featherweight champ ever who had just been head kicked KO'd by Islam a few months prior.

Get Topuria's ding dong out your mouth.

What’s the age of Islam’s opponents?

Funny how people like this always leave out how Ilia came back and won via brutal KO.
I literally posted the gif in my OP lol so you just read the headline and posted via emotional reaction.

I just find it funny that people think he will easily beat the p4p #1 when he barely gets passed unranked journeyman at the higher weight class. If people get offended by that, I don't care. Its not speculation, it literally happened and it wasn't 10 years ago.

Islam went on a 10 fight win streak for over 6 years after that just to get 1 title shot, Topuria got a title shot 2 fights after getting pieced up and dropped by a can for beating Bryce Mitchell and a senior citizen, and is now getting a title shot in a 2nd division just 4 fights later.

JDM lost back to back to start his career, Merab lost back to back when he got the UFC, Volk got KO'd early, Max lost his debut and went 3-3, the difference is they didn't get pushed to a title right after.

Always something to nitpick. People like you, who choose to look at the world in search for discrediting others are losers.

Arman 23( up and comer)
Charles 32(Prime)
Dustin 35(Maybe a year or two past prime but still competitive.)

Volk 35( just ko brutally KO'd)
Max 32(has been fighting for over 15 years)
Emmett 38 old as fuck

Just shut the fuck up dude lol

Add the fact that Islam is into his 30s and Topuria is still in his 20s.

Aside of all of the arguing going around in this thread, Topuria isnt the biggest FW and would be outsized on at least one aspect by every LW in the top 15, his last LW try against a low tier LW ended up going his way but it wasnt pretty, bad move going to LW but he probably knows something we dont.

Thank you brother for being objective. I literally praised the guy for what he has done and his Stans can't handle anything that isn't praise to their favorite fighter.
