Top 5 undeserving title shots

Wasn't Royce Gracie Vs Hughes a title fight?

And out of topic, but fight finder erased Royce's "defeat" against Harold Howard (his first fight with Yoshida was already erased anyway)
Hughes/Gracie was a catch weight bout.

They finally did Royce justice and erased that loss from his record. The fight never even started.

I don't recall the first Yoshida fight ever being on Fight Finder because of the limited rules. It was pretty much a grappling match.

I do not consider Chael vs. Jones or, say, Rogers vs. Overeem to be unfair. There were no other contenders for the champion.

Diaz vs GSP and Lesnar vs. Randy were unfair.

Hard to call the shot undeserved when the challenger actually beat the champion

Completely disagree.

I mean a guy like Rampage could come out an KO jones in a rematch if he connected but that doesn't change that he shouldn't have got the shot in the first place

if the undeserving challenger wins, the point is kind of moot

so Randy/Sylvia, Brock/Randy are fine

Jones-Sonnen by far takes the cake, Chael is not just coming off a loss in a smaller division, but a straight TKO, and stylistically his greatest strength(wrestling) is also a great strength on Jones

matyushenko/tito? though that was last minute, so it's acceptable

It's still an undeserved title shot, even if the challenger wins.

John Lober went 0-5-1 after beating Frank Shamrock, and he got a title shot over Vitor so Frank could have his rematch.

What about Eilers/Arlovski?
Undeserved but understandable. No one else would step up. The #1 Contender (sadly, Buentello) turned down the fight. They tried to get Ricco to come back for a rematch, but he turned them down. Rumors at the time were that the UFC even turned to Josh Barnett. Eilers agreed to take it, even though he wasnt even option C. In that situation, no one else got screwed out of a deserved shot, likewise with Couture/Sylvia.

All Chael said was "Yes" when everyone else said "No". This to a degree merits it but had others said yes, and he got it anyways, well thats a different story. I don't know why people are still not getting that.

"everyone" said no???

Machida was the only one that said no, there are at least a dozen more accomplished LHW's than sonnen that were never asked.

Don't forget Overeem vs. Bustamante

Overeem was knocked out by sergei just a couple months earlier and then he's given a title shot.

why cant you people get it? chael saying "yes" is irrelevant...that was NEVER once the reason why he got a title shot and who said no? belfort didnt say no...machida wanted the fight in brazil and he was denied...hendo sure as fuck didnt say no to his deserved title shot...he got passed over for TV ratings and PPV buyrates...thats the only reason this fight is happening...$$$$....stop being naive...this isnt about "stepping up"...thats a joke...theres a handful of fighters more then willing to fight Bones who are far more deserving...Hendo, Gustaffson, Machida all want the fight...there is absolutely no merit in sonnen getting this fight...stop being delusional...

Buentello? Poor Busta would have been killed.

machida actually wanted the fight at the UFC 153 event in brazil and was denied but they booked bones v. belfort 3 weeks prior...its all bullshit...thats the angle the UFC is trying to sell to convince the simpletons that this title shot makes sense...
