1) Chael vs Jones 2) Shamrock vs Tito 3) Randy vs Sylvia 4) Diaz vs GSP 5) Lesnar vs Randy http://www.themmadigest.com/top-5-most-undeserving-title-shots/
Shamrock/tito 1 kinda had the Diaz/GSP hype in the sense that they hated each other and that the fans at the time wanted to see it. So that one is passable IMO.
All Chael said was "Yes" when everyone else said "No". This to a degree merits it but had others said yes, and he got it anyways, well thats a different story. I don't know why people are still not getting that.
#1 Diaz/GSP: this one takes the cake because Diaz lost his last fight Diaz has 0 wins over a current top-10 WW, and there was an infinitely more deserving contender ready and willing to get the shot instead The rest in no particular order are: Sylvia/Arlovski 3 Sylvia/Couture Jones/Sonnen Lesnar/Couture
Lol. He said 'yes' to a fight with Jon Jones at UFC 151. That doesn't 'merit' a fight with Jon Jones 7 months later with an Ultimate Fighter season lead-in.
They would have, yes. but that wasn't the scenario. They had their chance for the fight and to step up, blew it. Chael said yes, Jones said no. Event cancelled. Jones fights belfort, injures arm. Chael being rewarded for stepping up. End of story. Don't be butt hurt, the true contenders will emerge. Shogun would have had no shot anyways so i don't know why everyone is crying about that.
I don't agree with GSP/Diaz. Don't get me wrong, I wouldn't have handed Diaz a shot either... if it was up to me GSP would fight JH. I just don't think people understand that Diaz still is the 4th ranked WW right now. Number one contender? Def not, but still not a top 5 undeserving title shot IMO. I think people became too spoiled with GSP always fighting the #1 or 2 guy. Let him have this fight. Other champs have had theirs...
I find it really odd that Aldo/Edgar is rarely brought up in these conversations now. Have we just moved past it, or what? I want to see that fight as much as anyone, but aside from the fact that Edgar is a former champion, I don't understand why it isn't mentioned. He's coming off of two losses (say what you want, but that's on the record), and he's getting a title shot for his first fight at Featherweight.
rofl wow you believe what Dana/sonnen say? You really think Gus/machida/shogun/hendo all said no to a fight in April? Cormier was even calling jones out.
I feel as if his controversial loss(es) to bendo and the fact he was so resilient at 155 kind of smoothes it out.
What do you not get? I never said they said no to a shot in april. And listen to all media conference calls regarding the TUF and 151 topics. It's not rocket science. But then again, most sherdoggers don't research before having an opinion.
