Aspinall says Gane should not get to fight for gold whenever he likes, especially after Gane turned down Aspinall’s callout after UFC Paris (at the time Ciryl said he didn’t want to fight down the rankings).

Aspinall says Gane can fight Jailton Almeida and then he will give him a shot if he wins.

Per Michael Bisping’s podcast:

Said this post fight press conference after the fight happened.

So.... The Heavyweight and Interim Heavyweight Champs don't want to defend against the top contender... Sounds about right. Time for another Interim Champ... and all the champs at the end of 2024 can fight in a Hell in the Cell
Tom should get Jon next and that's it, but we all know UFC wants legacy padding fight.

Aspinall and Gane are both very fluid, but seemingly-chinny fighters.

Both hold their heads up too high, but both are so fast (and athletic), that it's hard to catch either one.

I think Aspinall is a tougher, meaner dude than Gane.
Also, Aspinall is obviously better on the ground than Gane.

Meeting and defeating Ciryl Gane (after beating Pavlovich) would put Tom Aspinall on the top of the HW food chain.
There would be no denying it.

Either Jones vacates or is forced to meet Tom Aspinall after Stipe.

No other heavyweight in the UFC is worth two shits for the title, after the winner of Aspinall x Gane.

He wants to defend the interim belt against the winner of Gane/Almeida? Great. So even the fighters themselves think that there's 2 HW belts now. Jon gets to keep the "real" belt until he someday fights Stipe or retires, and the "interim" belt for everyone else to fight over. What a joke

Why not? not so confident he will win and the ducking begins? LOL, im not a Gane fan...but why wouldnt he fight him? He is getting championship pay along with that belt...thats why most fighter if not all, dont refuse interim title fights, its money for them, its not just being a glorified #1 contender, means money.

The HW division is very thin, and after Jailton's last performance, nobody wants to see him fight for a title. Since Jones is out, why not Cyril?

Because Gane doesn't get unlimited title fights after going on a one-fight win streak. It happened after the Ngannou bout when he beat Tuivasa. Now after Jones embarrassed him he beats Spivak who isn't even a Top 5 guy and he is immediately back in title talks again? No thanks. He has traded wins and losses in his last four bouts, let me see him actually build a bit of momentum first.

And I say this as a huge fan.

Gane has had way too many title shots already. Do Blaydes vs Gane next.

Blaydes is ranked below Gane and coming off a loss. Good chance he gets used by the UFC to play gatekeeper like they were planning to do against Almeida... in fact, that fight may get rebooked since Jailton didn't really go that far up the ranks and the promotion may want to punish him for a "boring" fight.

So no salty haters saying Aspinall is duking Gane ? Oh well, it's just for Jon Jones <seedat>

To be fair, i don't blame Aspinall but if he wants to stay active, he'll have to fight another opponent, even if it's not Gane.
