It was called "meat".
They had protein powder in 1926?
Does anyone know that site that you type in a dead website and you're able to view it again? If so, I have a bunch of vintage Hepburn articles. I just need the name of that site.
Here's another article on Doug Hepburn's training that Meatplow posted in another thread. It goes over the same training rules. Sample routine is at the bottom.
Mahler's Aggressive Strength Kettlebell Training
Mahler couldn't resist on modifying it to more strength endurance style of a thing with added kettle bells. Now Im not saying that Hepburn never used kettlebells, maybe he did, but the idea Im gathering from those two articles made me think more like militart press and deadlift on day one and weighted pull-ups and squats on the other or nominate an entire day to one lift and lift more often.
Over all good read and sound logic from the ye olde big brute.

Out of curiosity, I looked up Weider (who was probably one of the first supplement companies) and they started making supplements in 1957. I guess at that time Hepburn would have been 31 so it's definitely possible that he used protein powder.... ha ha... not that any one gives a fuck I just saw protein powder and 1926 and was surprised.
He made shakes loaded with milk, juice, eggs, protein powder, and honey, and often drank them during his workouts to keep his energy high
He added one kettlebell exercise to the routine - what a scam!

It said he was born in 1926.
Exactly, that's why I said, in the post that you quoted, that he would have been 31 in 1957
Yep. Sorry.
In the late 1930s a young pharmacist named Eugene Schiff developed a method of processing whey from milk for human consumption. He created Schiff Bio-Foods, a whey packaging company. This was a half century before whey concentrates would emerge as a popular supplement in the bodybuilding scene. For a short time he sold his packaged whey to local drug stores, then sold his own store to enter into the manufacturing and packaging of health foods.
Schiff focused on supplements made from natural products. He began to experiment with whole foods such as brewer
