News Titanic Tours Submersible missing in atlantic ocean

You know that step kid ain’t seeing a penny of that Billions, kid went to a concert the day of lols. If he had that much $$$ he could see Blink when and wherever he wanted.

obviously the kid is not close to his step father. So I ain’t even mad at the kid, go get yours because you aren’t getting his..
I wouldn't be so sure. He is obviously living large, and his mother will probably float tons of money to him for years to come.

I made the mistake of reading that story, I had a hard time sleeping for weeks.
. We all had that time as a kid where we got stuck, frantic, and only an adult could help us out. A ditch drainpipe was my thing when I was 4. I was able to crawl from 1 end to the other. And then i turned 4 and a half and was big enough to get stuck. After that I had a healthy respect for enclosed crawls and avoided them but never got claustrophobic or anything.

I read it and shuddered slightly because you remember that time as a child you got stuck for hours

Then realized I'm not reckless enough to ever go spelunking in caverns I'm too fat for, decided the guy played nature's Russian roulette and it didn't trouble my sleep at all lol.

I imagine that guy's horror when the rescuers equipment couldn't get him out and broke and his realization that he was a goner when they unenthusiastically told him they were going to try to think of another way. The tone of their voice and look in their eyes would have gave the plot away. His fucking body is still in there and they sealed the cave with cement so nobody else could ever go in.

The mossdale caverns story is fucked up too. The 2 guys who opted out because it felt too dangerous and got teased and called pussies by the 6 who died STILL went in and tried to help rescue them after the rain flooded the cavern

What a shitty place to spend your final hours. I hope rescuers pull off a miracle, as at this point the passengers are probably on their last leg in terms of oxygen.

There are recordings of the last conversations with him while he was trapped, and I made the mistake of listening to him beg his sister to get him out. Yes, I think it's an insane, suicidal hobby, but the Thai kids made me revisit my position. If not for these maniacs playing suicidal games we wouldn't have the experts who were able to get those kids out.

When I was four I was playing hide and seek with some local kids. I hid in a trunk and they knew where I was, and they locked the trunk and left me there. I was there for hours until my mother found me and I've been terrified of closed spaces ever since.

Years later I was playing with some kids in the winter. We'd built snow forts and they'd dug a tunnel between them, and knew I wouldn't go into the tunnel because I was scared. They talked me into it because I didn't want them to think I was chicken, and when I got half way they collapsed the tunnel on me.

Kids are assholes.

Anyways, as for this submarine... It could be in the middle of the desert miles from water and you couldn't pay me enough to let them seal me in even for five minutes.

Nobody will save them. There are only like 5 other submarines in the world that can sink that deep, and just like this one, very low power ones. They cant tow them up. The Titan has multiple ways to emerge even without power, if it didn't do that, they are all dead/passed out..

I think so too. I think the rescue teams on-site KNOW there's basically nothing they can do to haul this thing up even IF they found it at this point.

But for the sake of appearances, and Public Relations, they're maintaining it's a rescue mission. And it IS but...they have no vehicle to send down to tow it up or attach a cable to it (as far as I know).
The FADOSS thing I read about might be able to haul it up eventually but i think that's still hundreds of miles away.

Before this week, if money was no object I always have said number 1 on my bucket list would be to see the wreckage of the Titantic. I feel like this is the universe telling me to find a new #1. 250k for a Jack Dawson experience seems kind of hefty regardless.

Got any sources on that?

3.8 KM in 2 hours is 1.7 feet a second, and that seems uncomfortably fast as the water pressure would rise.
here's one a transcript by a previous passenger :

The search for the 21ft vessel, operated by OceanGate, is continuing.
Mr Loibl said his journey down to the wreck took around two-and-a-half hours and that his dive spent three hours exploring around the wreck.
He said: "Everyone was nervous - could we reach the bottom or could we return - because sometimes before they had problems with their battery systems by 1,600m... so they have to go back and that was the last possibility in 2021 to make this dive and when we got down, everyone was nervous."

Also :
Typically, each dive has a pilot, three paying passengers, and a guide on board.[2] Once these people are inside the submersible, the hatch is bolted shut and must be reopened from the outside.[21] The descent from the surface to the Titanic typically takes three hours,[22] with the full dive taking approximately eight hours.[2] Throughout the journey, the submersible is expected to emit a safety ping every 15 minutes to be monitored by the above-water crew.[8] The vessel and surface crew can also communicate via short text messages.[23]

Yeah, I have a feeling there won't be a conclusion to this thread anytime soon. I'm certain they will find it within this year, because the original point of subversion is known

Reading a bit about it and what a complete mess. Very sad all around.

Imagine spending 250k to die in an extremely small freezing space with a bunch of strangers along with the guy who created the thing.

<{chips}>

Gives new meaning to "sunk cost."
