They've started changing the name of the title in some of the billboards. It's spoilery but it might get people curious enough to watch the film. I have to commend them for their clever marketing, from the trailers to the posters, I love it.

Great comments from you guys.

I thought it was really good. It felt like the exact type of MCU film that they needed at this stage. As a film on its own merits, it's pretty clearly an upper-tier Marvel movie as far as I'm concerned. Even looking at it independent of Feige and the MCU, it's just a well-made, entertaining film with really good performances.

But within the context of the MCU, I think this was a huge shot in the arm for next year's Avengers film. Specifically because

the film did a phenomenal job of making the "New Avengerz" the type of stable the audience will root for and want to see again. Since those actors are a part of the next Avengers film, the success of this movie is critical to building momentum for that film.

The Avengers movie was going to be a massive moneymaker no matter what. Just like Deadpool and Wolverine and Spider-Man: No Way Home, it has the built-in drawing power that standard MCU films post-Endgame do not necessarily have. But Thunderbolts makes me more confident that there is ability to make the Avengers films good movies.

Basically, I think this Thunderbolts had a lot of aspects that worked very well. Moreover, it was funny without falling into some of the jokier/sillier elements of some MCU films. Thus, the intensity- and there was plenty of that- did not at all feel jarring or out of place a la Thor: Love and Thunder. The film took itself seriously and the characters interacted in an organic manner.

Performances were great across the board. Pugh gave one of the most emotionally resonant performances of anybody in the whole run. Great work. Harbour was hilarious but carried emotional weight when he had to as well. Wyatt Russell was just as much of a standout as he was in the series several years back. Pullman was ideal. Julia Louis Dreyfus was great as a really sketchy, obnoxious heel. I thought Stan didn't quite have as much to do as I expected, but he was very good as usual. Nice to see Hannah John-Kammen back years after Ant-Man and the Wasp. The rest of the cast delivered, too, with the always reliable Wendell Pierce and Geraldine Viswanathan lending good support.

Moreover, the film's ability to deal with dark themes, such as existential dread and depression in a manner that did not feel contrived or hollow is commendable.

Thanks to the quality of this film, I think there's a little less pressure on Fantastic Four, which, in my view, now really just has to not muck things up as opposed to needing to knock it out of the park .

I love this, they really are knocking it outta the park again with this one

Im glad I already saw the movie so I can fully appreciate this marketing while also not being spoiled because i had no idea this group was gonna be the New Avengers

I dont remember where it happened but at one point in the movie they used the word assemble and it stood out big time, like hmmmm, they didnt just say that specific word for no reason, me thinks something may be afoot

I gave it a 7/10, I was entertained and had some good laughs. I knew it was going to be super cheesy and corny, but it was a bit too cheesy for my liking. Who wrote Bucky's lines? Holy crap they were bad.

Yelena and Red Guardian stole the show.

One thing g for certain here is Florence Pugh is a big star or will be one very soon. Very very good actress. She is really cute just has a weird body its like from her shoulders to hip is 1 big rectangle block. Really cute face though and nice lower body. If she keeps in shape she will be a huge star as she's really good.

Bucky was worst part of it been better if they replaced him with Deadpool - wow add Deadpool to this an remove Bucky n movie would of been crazy. DP , Yelena, Red Gaurdian would have been marvel gold.

Deadpool in the team roster would have boosted the film at the box office. The film probably would debut with a $150 million opening weekend.

Buuuut, I don't want Deadpool in the team as his 4th wall breaking antics and constant jokes would mess up the tonal balance of the film.

Just DP, Yelena, and Red Gaurdian dialogs would have been greatness together.

Warning to those that haven't seen the movie yet.

The thread will now allow open spoiler discussion.

I was pleasantly surprised at how good this was.
Florence Pugh is a treasure. She really grounded this movie and gave it some emotional weight to help elevate it to more than just a "comic book movie". Really good chemistry with "Bob".
I was worried about this movie because there wasn't a lot of set up for it, the "heroes" they chose weren't exciting, and Sentry is a really complex character that seemed impossible to introduce at this point...especially alongside this team.
But, they did it, and they did it well.

Something that isn't done enough is a reminder that these guys are still humans with the same normal problems and feelings as anyone else--they can have shitty pasts, get lonely and depressed, etc, and those things can make them not as invincible as they may seem on the outside. It would have been really easy for this storyline to turn out cheesy or preachy, but they did it in a way that felt relatable and real.

The chemistry between the characters was really good, and they did a good job of taking their time and letting things play out. As @Dragonlordxxxxx mentioned, the pacing was great and deserves praise.

I thought Wyatt was annoying in the Falcon/Winter Soldier show, so I'm glad they had a chance to flesh him out more here and make him interesting.
They did drop the ball a bit on Ghost. All of the other characters got a proper amount of screen time, and/or have been around in the MCU in some form or fashion that they didn't really need a reminder of who they were.
But Ghost? We saw her once in like...Ant Man 2..and although she was pleasant in this movie, we didn't see much of what motivated her to be there.

They also really didn't do enough with Bucky. This whole "Representative Bucky" storyline was a giant waste, and it could have been so much more interesting. They should have had a show about him running for office or something, because he looked like he was doing the job at gun point.

They made one mention of this in the movie, but they should have went into more depth about how the government moves so slow that they can't address the problems in the same way heroes can.
That storyline was right there in the movie and they didn't touch it.

They also wasted too much time on Valentina's secretary. That character got entirely too much screentime and she wasn't even necessary. If Bucky wanted information, he should have been able to easily get it out of an intern or Valentina with tech, or old fashion spying.

Overall, great movie. I wish they had had time to make a Part 2 so that we could grow a bit more with these guys.
8.8/10

I can't decide if Florence Pugh is hot or not. She seems to be in everything these days.

Not a fan of the upcoming F4 movie simply never been a fan of that team but glad to hear this did well. I've always loved Winter Soldier since the Cap movie and I was always afraid they would get rid of him. Looks like he might finally have found a spot where he belongs though.
