And of course it's worth noting every time this comes up, how impressive it is that both franchises were able to pivot from horror to more of an action focus in the second film, but still deliver a 10/10 movie while changing genres in a sequel to a smash hit.

That will.always be the most interesting thing about comparing those four movies for me.

Yep.

Nitpickers cant diminish!!

I love this story:

I love listening Tarantino talk about movies. So passionate and knowledgeable. Even if it's a movie I've seen 20 times I'll learn new things about it listening to QT talk about it.

First time I saw Reservior dogs I was like 17 or 18 and it blew my fucking mind how good it was. Even at that age I knew QT was something special.

T2 is a goddamned masterpiece, you bitches.

To anyone who thinks otherwise, James Cameron shits in your mother's mouths, before impregnating them with your new half sibling.

And event if I wasn't extremely drunk, I'd fight anyone who said otherwise.

You motherfugkers
This is the reasoning of a real one.

The way he describes how you couldn't top Aliens the way he did in that video is perfect. Its really how everyone felt when Aliens and T2 came out. Like he really upped the stakes and tension when it didn't seem possible.

Man what a time for movies.

The big key is UPPING THE STAKES.

That's really what he did.

Linda Hamilton and The T800's transformations from the first movie is genius.

To the point that we all based our expectations on what a sequel should be on these movies. That's why all this new shit is such a disgrace. The greats take it personally when you tell them they can't follow up perfection with even more perfection.

All these years later and both franchises have never seen the high of an Aliens or T2 since. Its crazy when you think about it. The first two movies in both franchises were so good they kept the franchises going for decades just on residual awesomeness.

The greats like Cameron, Spielberg etc are just driven risk takers and visionaries.

Especially when you consider what he did with the original Alien story.

Now we didnt have defenseless construction workers against an unknown enemy.

We have bad ass marines with machine guns.

And they go in there and get their fucking ass kicked and lose most of their men in the first battle.

:: Multiple flatlines ::

"Jeeeeezus Christ, Apone what the hell is going on down there!"

Brilliant. You couldnt have sold it any better.

I mean the stakes in T1 was the very survival of the human race.

T2 was basically the exact same story with a bigger budget and a little less heart.

T2 did amazingly well, no doubt.

The famous story about Jaws is Spielberg intended the shark to have far more screen time but the model looked really fake so he worked around it…..and it actually made the film better.

You feel Cameron would have wanted T1 to have more effects too, but they weren’t possible at the time, so he revisited the story when he could afford to do it how he imagined it.

Would have been pretty interesting to see Spielberg do another Jaws film about the time he did Jurassic Park.

It's not the same story.

The dynamic is definitley changed.

Sarah's son is born, but she's trapped in a psych ward, unable to protect him.

So a t800, the villain in the original movie, is sent back to protect him.

The T800 has no mission to save Sarah at all but young John orders him to do it.

The first movie was simply survival, but in the second movie they try to stop it at it's source by destroying the labaratory at Skynet.

Let's also ignore completley the different tone of the film

But yeah exact same story!

You are right, completely different!!!!!

T1- cyborg and man sent back in time. 1 to kill the mother of the saviour of mankind. 1 to stop it. An emotional connection between the 2 protagonists evolves.

T2- 2 cyborgs sent back in time. 1 to kill the saviour of mankind. 1 to stop it. An emotional connection between the 2 protagonists evolves. (With 10x the budget).

Couldn’t be any different.

LOL

2 cyborgs > 1 cyborg

Emotional connection with human and non human

It sounds like you wanted a non terminator movie instead

LOL

Some people claim Seven Samurai and The Magnificent Seven are the same.

Absolute rubbish.

One is Samurai protecting a Japanese village from bandits, one is cowboys protecting a Mexican village from bandits.

Literally couldn’t be any further apart.

Your hipster nitpicking dirt flinging powers are weak, old man!

Concession accepted, boy.

Hope you can learn from this.
Terminator would be better with a story without Terminators in it! Gotcha!

Also throw out anything established in the first movie.
