What did @Anung Un Rama think of Ragnarok?

He's never pleased by anything comic book movie.

Ragnarok was not the full blooded (straight adaptation) Ragnarok movie you wanted, but did you make peace with Marvel's tried and tested formula?

As I thought it would, it blended the Planet Hulk and Ragnarok stories seamlessly, for a thoroughly good Marvel movie.

- It's not mentioned enough, however, that Whytitty/writers basically ripped off GOTG's style, but whatevs.
I thought it was a decent Flash Gordon sequel.

I find it funny that people love TR. Its got great action scenes and is very cool at times but it is bogged down by the shittiest comedy ever. You may even like it but how would you like to go see the good the bad and ugly as a comedy. Thor is not supposed to be funny. Its a very serious type of comic.

Guardians is better than TR imp

I usually don't care for shoehorned comedy in blockbusters and the majority of it has went well wide of the mark in all the Marvel movies thus far. Ragnarok was the exception however, I thought the moments of comic relief worked well and most of the gags hit the spot. Heck a few of them even made me lol which is almost unheard of. Banner/Thor and Loki/Thor made for great double acts and I absolutely lapped up Goldblum's ridiculously ott performance as the Grand Master.

In fact I just watched it all again on blu ray the other night and had as much of a blast as when I caught it in the cinema. Definitely the most fun and enjoyable Marvel movie alongside GOTG.

Probably the first where it's so clear-cut. There's a few arguable ones: Indiana Jones, LOTR, Dollars trilogy, Bourne Ultimatum...

Other notable ones: Blade Trinity, X3, T3, Batman forever.

j/k, of course

Honestly i agree with you. Some jokes were too much but some hit their mark but i would prefer a humorless thor movie than a funny one

I just caught this on Blu Ray and thought that it was great.

Before the first Thor movie came out I was very skeptical that it would translate well to film. I thought that a Thor movie would just be stupid but I was wrong. I have enjoyed them all, even #2. Hemsworth does a hell of a good job as that character. And Hiddleston is awesome as Loki. He is one of the best characters in the MCU.

Just watched it

I thought there was to much comic relief, and some of the comedic dialog was off.

I also thought the fight scenes were s bit lacking. To much running towards each other, about to fight, but then cutting to something else or zooming out. Took away from it.

Visuals were amazing tho, as was the sound track . Some of the comedy was great.

Loved grand master.

Hated how the Valkytie kept trying to look sexy and rugged. Looks retarded.

Saw this over the weekend. Thought it was good, although I had some issues. GCI Surtur was on par with JL Steppenwolf and I"m surprised no one has brought that up. Other CGI elements seemed off as well, but overall movie was visually pleasing. Too much comic relief. Too many serious moments ruined by the insertion of levity.

Overall I really liked it. A notch above JL for sure, but not too far.

Sultur was in the movie for about 5 minutes and was covered in fire. Steppenwolf was the big bad. Major difference.

Thor 3 >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>JL

Rewatched this on bluray and it's a solid 8-9. I don't know where I got my original 6 rating. One of the most fun Marvel films out there.

Finally just watched this, after Infinity War!!

I wasn't gonna bother because Thor 1 & 2 were just shit to be honest but holy hell this was amazing!!

Korg was hilarious, I was dying when he went to kick Lokis double and said 'piss off, ghost'.

I feel bad now for everyone on the ship because I know what happens :(

Honestly Surtur looked fine to me. Steppenwolf is the most egregious CGI job I've seen in a big budget film.

Hey Hey, take it easy......

The biggest thing i would change in this movie is the ending of the hulk and thor fight. Thor and hulk should start destroying the arena with a stray lightning bolt almost hitting the box seats and that's when Jeff decides to stop it.

hahaha the piss off ghost line nearly made me double over in the theater.

Korg was hysterical. "What was your question again, bruv?"

Yeah man no kidding.
Everything ends so optimistically at Thor: Ragnarok. Hadn't those people been through enough shit...

Yeah we was brilliant, the accent just made him.

And I was dying at the Hulk and Thor going at each other when Thor started kicking stuff and Hulk was like no kicking my stuff <45> And when Thor started mentioning his hammer Hulk pulled an irritated face and walk off with a hand wave as if he has heard enough about for years lmao.

Yeah seeing Thor now makes me feel bad for them on the ship, wondering where are Korg, his friend and Valkyrie?

It`s implied half of the Asgardians on the ship got away safely (Thanos is fixated on always killing one half of the people he conquers, plus Thor said "almost all of his people" died) Without an on-screen death I'd think Valkyrie got away somehow.

I don't think that'll ever come into play though since Hemsworth is probably out the door after Avengers 4 and all of those supporting characters go away with him. Also, Korg is voiced by the director who'll probably be busy for a while with how well received his movies have been.

It's a shame really, I feel like the character was just now hitting his stride and Waititi found the perfect tone for him. There's nothing wrong with playing it straight like the previous films did but it got boring pretty quick.

Where TR failed in the comic relief and comedy department, Infinity War nailed it. The funny moments were perfectly placed in a pretty dark in tone type of movie. I feel like they used Thor better in Infinity War than in any of his own standalone movies.

The Russos were jizzing their pants to finally get their hands on Thor and they did not disappoint. Future Thor directors, take note.

I still haven't seen this.

Someone convince me it's better than the first two pieces of shit.
