P.S. masters (in any discipline) can get away with things amateurs can't. The sub defense of those Fedor (who is great, I'm definitely not a hater) armbarred is at an amateur level compared to the top competitors today.

Well for one thing that wasn't prime Fedor but for another Bigfoot is a BJJ BB who Werdum couldn't do anything to off of his back either.

Personally I think people greatly overestimate the sub defence a lot of modern wrestlers have for a few reasons...

1.There mostly very defensive not looking to open up with potentially fight ending GnP very often.

2.There are fewer high level sub fighters around today than there were in the past, this is especially true at HW where theres a pretty vast gulf between Werdum and all of the other high level HWs.

3.Far fewer of the sub grapplers that there are are willing to attack from their backs due to US judging almost always favouring the fighter in top position.

You shift todays talent base back to Pride and I think many would be supprized at the number that get subbed from top position by guys like the Nogs, Werdum and Fedor.
 
You cant argue with fedor nutswingers, he was a great fighter for his time, but the competition dc has beat is much higher, and dc has never been subbed, infact dc is a bad matchup for fedor.
Dc comes foward, iron chin, better wrestling, and more technical striking.

:(Yesterday rewatched Fedor fights with Mirko and Big Nog.
These ones which are known as his best achievements ever. Actually, i am not that impressed. Nogueira was dominated, but not finished, in Cro Cop fight Fedor face was looking worse than Mirko's after all.
His submissions at that time (vs Coleman, Hunt, Randleman) were sambo's style, they worked at that old times, but not sure for nowadays. So whatever, i think that would be very competitive match.
