I think (almost) any place is a good opportunity to pick up a woman but I don't like the idea of macking a girl at work. Obviously guys have done it and been successful, and there is a time and place for everything. The reason I don't like it though is because:

1) They're usually being nice because it's their job. I'd hate the idea of them being in a tough position where any time they're being courteous to a customer he thinks they're hitting on her. "That waitress really digs me bro, did you see how she smiled at me?"

2) If you make a move on a girl at a place in which you frequent and she rejects you or you do get her number but it doesn't work out, future interactions will be awkward. Unless you're someone who is really smooth or funny enough to prevent it from being awkward.

It's possible, but you have to get in and out. Get her number and be gone in 60 seconds type of job. If you can sense the chemistry you both will know what the deal is. Even if she rejects you, you can still save face, since it was only a blip of an interaction.

Tbh, it really isn't that hard as folks make it.

I'd say if you don't look like crap, don't give off a creepy vibe, under the right circumstances most women will at least give you a shot if you approach confidently.

This is really complicated to give advice on without actually being there tbh

Theres a whole lot of subtle shit going on in every interaction, both sides playing the game in their own way

Most people prob dont understand how messy it can be

So yeah, most of us would only be guessing and giving shit advice

Overall it sounds like you were trying to push / pull and overstepped a bit.

Id say just apologize. Say you were acting like an idiot and approach each future interaction with a lighter touch. See where it goes from there.
