There is no getting away from BLM and Juneteenth

I work at a large bank and just this year they started focusing on Juneteenth.
I had never heard of this before. But my bank is acting like they always celebrated this holiday.

If you want to start focusing on it... fine, go ahead. But to play it up as “business as usual everyone.. let’s start the Juneteenth festivities!!”

Man, my friend's company is donating millions to FLoyd's kids. All while firing people. Crazy.

If you go to YouTube right now you will get a P&G BLM ad at the very top of the screen.

i mainly let my kids watch Kipper the Dog on my phone or I’m watching videos on GK Chesterton. Nothing related to rage.
When I refresh the recommended videos on YouTube I constantly get a new channel that hardly has any views telling me about the wonders of Juneteenth

I can’t name my bank... but there is some talk that we, as employees, might have to take some pledge that we stand against racism.

I don’t want to pledge Jack shit to my company aside from my time and effort on what they hired me for.

This will turn into another Chase LGBT ally survey from a few years back

This is a little nutty:
So I wanted to let my son watch Short Circuit because we had just watched Uncle Buck. Short Circuit was the next one that came to mind.

I was chatting with a friend of mine from another city and told him how my son and I were going to watch Short Circuit to which he replied “That’s a weird coincidence... I just rented it last night to watch again”

Nice.

During “quarantine” we’ve been watching every old movie I can think of.

how did this george floyd situation become about racism? wasn't it about police brutality originally? the emphasis really should be on the police brutality I don't think racism should take a front seat to the police brutality.

Right now... trying to watch Short Circuit to get away from this stuff and the left corner has BLM and the right has Juneteenth.

Bro, you’re watching a movie with blackface (or I guess it’s Indian face) on Juneteenth?!

Your YouTube recommendations are based on what you view..

Absolutely untrue. The very top of the page, yes. Scroll down a little and I’m bombarded by sections entitled “Change”, etc.

idk... only seen it on social media. Nothing on TV, but then again, I watched a show about Hitler (which they show on every History and AHC channel) and then Jeopardy.

i seriously used to think AHC meant Adolf Hitler Channel because every time I came across it on the guide, there was a show about Hitler that was to be followed by a show about Hitler and followed by a show about Hitler. Who would think American History Channel. Surely there is more to this countries history than a German Chancellor

I never scroll down. My YouTube picks, if I'm caught up on subscriptions, are usually picked from the ten "random" recommended videos. I know the next tier is news, and it's rare that anything there catches my eye.

I don't know what is below that.

Thats hilarious, adolf hitler channel

They just don’t seem to let go of nazi or mafia programs, like move on to another period of history. Even the new George Ancient Alien Popodufus changed his theme a bit

I usually only watch YouTube from my desktop but decided to go just now from my mobile phone. Screenshot from literally 1 minute ago.

And you know it’s legit because I’m one of the few losers who watches Raiders clips.

Literally the homepage / top video recommendation.

My top ad was for Facebook messenger. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Not sure, my man. But at least you now know, with 100% certainty, YouTube does not only send recommendations based on what you view. The proof is above.

Social Justice fatigue is a real thing, and its a good thing.

The people who get fatigued are those who grew up with certain privileges (most of us) and are told that social justice is a good thing, without having to go through any of the negative experiences.
Lots of people first get fatigued by the message before realizing how important the message is, without simply being told.

These kids "know" racism is bad, because they were classically trained about it, without ever having to go through it. It still doesnt mean they know how bad it is.
It takes a lot of media and social media movement for them to stop and really reflect on it.
