Opinion Theodore Roosevelt Statue is Coming Down

Purposeless people creating purpose through fake outrage at history they don’t understand.

Honkity honk honk!!!

holy shit. Wasn’t expecting that. I mean they kind of have a point when they say it displays his domanance over native Americans and Africa’s really.

The original sculptor himself said it was meant to communicate unity, not dominance. Roosevelt is simply the one on the horse, because its meant to be honoring his leadership. They are his guides; he isn't dominating or enslaving them

Yeah man, I get that. But white people around that time felt they were improving the Native Americans by "civilizing" them, aka waging a genocide, and felt that kidnapping Africans to do slave labor in the US was saving them from their savagery. So it's cool that the guy who did the statue had good intentions, but it's still not a good look.

Unless there was a specific event this is depicting that actually happened, it just screams white savior.

What is the context? Was he dominating them/

Is the fact that a white can dominate a BIPOC not acceptable in any situation?

That's screwed up!! Even if some people are offended it's wrong to attempt to rewrite history.

Multiple statues have been forcefully taken down by mob rule in the uk already.

Why do these people that do this kinda stuff always look like they haven't showered for a week?

That statue is in horrible taste and should have been torn down when the rest were. Would like to see it replaced with a more inclusive statue. George Floyd got one, so they could do one for someone like Tamir Rice or Trayvon Martin. Or one representing the lgbtqia+ community would be nice. How about one honoring our first African American female VP? Lot's on good options

RuPaul.

People read what they want into that statue. If you want to see something questionable you will. The intent of the sculptor doesn't really matter. You'll see it as you wish to see it or can be convinced to see it and act accordingly.

Not only that, you can point out a good 5-6 people immediately who are blatantly on mental health tablets. It's so fucking easy. It's the unstable dregs of society being activated and mobilised for political purposes.
