I am quite aware Roosevelt was a President. I was talking about other staues that were rightfully taken down. But you are right again.....Floyd having a substance abuse problem is way worse than the deaths Roosevelt caused by being a jackass while in the Rough Riders or ushering in a period of imperialism overseas

How is taking down a statue rewriting history?

And what exactly is wrong with rewriting history? You can't change the past but it's perfectly acceptable to change the light in which you describe it.

Tbf in this example the guy was a big player in the slave trade, so I think taking this one down was fair.
 
You got to be joking, I would hope they also take down Washington's statues to then.

TR rolled hard in real life. That isn't sanctifying him, dude rolled that way and for anyone else it would be an exaggeration and silly, but for Teddy, this is toned down.
If I made a statue of him, I would have him giving 10 guys, bankers robber barons and other jerks, a headlock

I think ol' Teddy deserves a statue there - considering his love and preservation of the wilds...
But I can see how that particular statue is not necessarily the most appropriate (though, the same could be said for any statue of George Floyd that isn't outside a prison).
 
Gotta love that so many right wingers are in here pretending this decision was because of Roosevelt as a person and not just the statue itself being in poor taste.
