I just can't see them agreeing to something so radical as tearing down an already-existing barrier.

And last I checked, doesn't the Border Patrol's viewpoints carry more weight on whether a Barrier is needed, anyway?

Beto has spent more time speaking with the border communities down there and getting their temperature on the subject than any other politician weighing in on this. Beto won these border towns in his election. Because he’s on the same page as them.

Asking border patrol union reps if they want more funding and stuff is always going to get a yes. Always. That’s unions. That’s why police unions in bumfuck nowhere get themselves huge heavily armored transports and other military grade gear they will never need. It’s an obvious bias they carry.

I can’t think of a time the military, police unions, any LEO group didn’t ask for the most shit they can get whether or not the tax dollars and in this case also the crazy massive seizure of private property and negative effects to environment were worth it to civilians.

See bloated military budget, or policy forces in peaceful rural Midwest towns buying armored transports meant for war zones. They always argue they need this shit. I’ll take the people who live there and don’t work for agencies that stand to directly benefit from the funding word over some border patrol union reps.
