Economy The [Wall / Government Shutdown] Megathread

Would you approve of Trump using emergency powers to build his wall?

  • Total voters
    92
  • Poll closed .
That kind of proves Trump's point in that the Democrats would rather he fail in his bid for a Wall than compromise to get DACA which was what they've wanted. <Y2JSmirk>

Pelosi just proved her goal and the Democrats goal is OBSTRUCTION, Period.

And I guarantee that's exactly what Trump will bring up when the SOTU happens.
Trump was offered the money he wanted if he agree to a path towards citizenship for the DACA recipients, and he declined. So how do you figure the Dems would rather he fail on the Wall over helping the DACA recipients.

I saw this. Talk about sad state of politics in the US. Declaring victory over each other. Maybe one day we'll have politicians that actually look out for the people of this country. Bunch of hacks.

The fight would be done if the lifting of the Shutdown was Permanent and not just 3 fucking weeks(Temporary).

The fight would be done if he got funding for the Wall.

It's silly to think he'll just give up on that just because he TEMPORARILY ended the shutdown.

It’s never permanent, that’s not a reasonable standard. It’s over, he’s not getting the wall.

Lol wasn't he very clear when he refused to fund the government through February a month ago that the government wouldn't re-open without 5 billion for his wall? So, what has he accomplished in that month of the government being shutdown other than losing horribly to President Pelosi?

The left wanted to negotiate while the government is up and running. .he's giving them the opportunity to make good on that...or more likely to not...in which case he a. Proves they never intended to and b.can proceed like he would have anyway.

Sad people celebrating a "win for pelosi"...I can just picture you tools at home with your pelosi jersey and backwards pelosi hat cheering your teams victory. Empty lives you must live

You are genuinely not bright enough to understand that Pelosi absorbed all of Trump's lifeforce today. She went vampire on him.

Then he should have done it 5 weeks ago when 99 senators voted for it. Instead of waiting to after President Pelosi told him he couldn't have the SOTU in the House Chambers unless the shutdown was over. He's negotiating on President Pelosi's terms not his own. He lost, and looks beta as fucc.

I think it’s incredibly unlikely. Trump tapped out of this fight now because of the exponentially increasing pressure that a long shutdown entails. It accomplished nothing more than a blow to his approval ratings, making Nancy look stronger than him, and a humiliating day on the internet with him getting it from liberals and conservatives.

I think the absolute last place Trump will go is back into the same situation.
Maybe he's just that stupid or impulsive?

People that don't realize this are extremely CLUELESS.

Trump owned himself by "proudly" shutting down the government, and then the Dems OWNED him afterward.

His loss...our gain.

2020 is still a long way off, though.

Everyone would still have forgotten this by then anyway.

The key is going to be how the Economy is by then. If it's still going strong, his chances are pretty solid.

If it takes a nose-dive, adios.
I just don't see the moderates and all the folks that fell for the disinformation campaign voting for him again. He never tried to be the President of the USA. The question is whether he's going to jail or not

He only offered temporary relief. His base wouldn't accept an amnesty deal even if it meant 20 billion in wall funds.

Holding the government hostage? As President? Will not turn out any better for him.

Pelosi should refuse the SOTU until a deal is reached.

I can't believe the demoncrats were willing to shut down the government, refuse citizenship for the poorest of immigrants (dreamers), postpone the state of the union, and stop paychecks to the people that serve america all because of $5 billion to make america safer.

And yet, Fuck giving that bitch the time of day. No matter who she goes after.
I don't even think Ann believes half the sh*t she says/tweets...she is all about selling her books, staying relevant on social media. She says crazy stuff to get attention...she is like a "shock jock" sports host (Stephen A. Smith/Skip Bayless) for conservative political commentators. I agree with some of her policy positions but have grown tired of her antics. And you wonder why she is single...
