What are you trying to say?

The government has been "shutdown" for almost a month and the world is functioning normally with no changes other than government non-essential employees not working.

This is what happens when you give people jobs just to give people jobs.
What I was thinking.
It looks like we could cut the overhead drastically and still function just fine.

Where you at Mitchell? AOC and the Four Horsewomen are looking for you, boy.

WASHINGTON — Congressman Will Hurd of Texas is an increasingly lonely voice in the “build the wall” Republican Party of Donald Trump. A 41-year-old former undercover CIA officer, Hurd represents one of the largest congressional districts in America, Texas’ 23rd, a vast expanse of land roughly the size of Georgia that stretches from San Antonio to El Paso.

Hurd’s district includes 820 miles of the U.S.-Mexico border, more than any other member of the House of Representatives. But if you’re expecting Hurd, who was narrowly re-elected to a third term last year, to support President Trump’s “big, beautiful wall” and stand with the decision to partially shut down the federal government over the fight, you’ve got it all wrong. Trump’s border crisis is a “myth,” Hurd tells Rolling Stone, and a wall made of cement or steel slats is a “third-century solution to a 21st-century problem.”

Interesting interview if anyone interested.

Question: Is 123,228 people a lot of people?

Can't really say that though because a lot of people are working without pay. For instance I was just down at the federal court house with one of the lawyers and no one there is getting paid.

Yep. The federal government is set up to minimize the immediate effect of a shutdown. But it's causing serious problems even now - we now have a 7 figure judgement in limbo because of the delay. Another client can't afford payroll without a loan because contract payments aren't bring timely processed.

Yea shits going to really hit the fan when people start looking for new jobs. These people can only go so long without pay before they have to look somewhere else.

And think that it’s all because Trump lied during the campaign about Mexico paying for a wall and his brain dead supporters just grinned and said yes daddy

He’s declaring tomorrow.

Knew this would happen. It was the next logical step (for both sides really) because no one caved.

It’ll be interesting to see what the Court says about this. They could say there is a standing issue or decide it’s a political question, or something, and then never address it.
