The UFC is pretty much dead, to me

UFC doesn't have anybody with any fighting prowess.

Great take TS.

*noteworthy

you can't just eliminate words from my original statement
The majority of the roster are killers, no doubt, but who stands out with a noteworthy prowess?

Agree if I'm honest.

Only Aspinall & Poatan have that aura for me, these days.
JBJ to a lesser degree.

Excited to see how Paddy's career pans out too (I'm from the UK) and will root for Leon Scott also.

But the rest, yep, its just not that compelling to me.

indeed, compelling is the word

Its either just getting older or part of the cycle. There isn't always destined to be a super exciting fight ever card. Overall things aren't as fun as they used to be but if there's literally only one fighter you care about it's probably more of a personal problem.

literally never said i cared to watch literally just one fighter though?

My point is there hasn't been an exciting card since forever

Tell me a the most recent stacked card you've seen

You lost me at MVP...The 40 year old can crusher who has a padded record. Very nice. Excited for tons of fighters, unfortunately not nearly as many matchups and even less cards though. I sorta feel you. But I care way less about star power than quality these days. If you give me some banger prospect fight vs two world class guys I'm way more interested than seeing played out big named fighters and ceilings capped all action guys.

to each his own

been an MVP fan for over a decade
If beating Holland in his first UFC fight makes a prospect a can crusher, then well... so be it

None of them have that GSP, Jones, Spider aura but doesn't mean that there isn't still many good fighters and fights left.

Champs alone you have Islam, Topuria, DDP... all great fighters that put on exciting fights. And tons of other top 10 guys.

To single out just Pereira is a very narrow vision.

said he is the only one with an aura

i'm remembering why I stopped posting here
People legit have zero reading comprehension

who else besides Poatan moves the needle?

Well they have to let the whole world know their precious thoughts.

@ TS, I'm not as big a fan as I was the previous decade but I still find great fights every month. If I don't know up and coming stars I just get to know them. The problem is you're a fan of fighters and not the sport. You should overcome your idol worship.

interesting take

you first agree with me, then accuse me of idol worship

"ATM it's MVP and no-one else. For me". I took that as being the only fighter you cared to watch. Unless you meant the only exciting fighter.

I'd say 300 was pretty good. Other than that I'd have to go back and look at the recent cards.

Yeah, Holland gets passed around in any promotion PFL, Bellator, ACA and even some dudes in KSW. He's not really a top 30 talent on the world stage, just a fun marketable guy.

So because I don't agree that Poatan has an aura I have no reading comprehension?

Poatan, to me, is as good/exciting as those other fighters I said.

Read it again mate.

I feel one has to seperate fighters and the sport itself. People who watch and follow a shitload of fighters and will watch total unknown newcomers, and then there's those who are heavily invested in a few or even one fighter, and when he/they are done with the sport then so are the bandwagon fans.

....you never said that Pereria didn't have an aura...
.... I never denied that you ever said what you pretended to have said, but never did...
....and you don't think he has an 'aura'?

Again, the lack of coherency and comprehension surely puts a damper on posting

Sure, I get that. I didn't get into MMA because of one single fighter. I got into it because I'm a sick fuck who happened to be curious of what would happen if Tank Abbott fought a Samoan who practiced some secret martial art.

Then when I got into it, I completely let go of watching any other sport because it didn't interest me as much as MMA.

I was so into it that I started paying attention to the local circuits. Even remember watching Jon Jones in his debut match in New Jersey. Or was it his 2nd? Thinking, "damn he gon be scary"

What kept me watching the sport wasn't idolizing people.
The people who do idolize people are the ones obsessed with P4P rankings.

I see

300 was pretty good

but to make the point, think back on 2024, and tell me which card(s) made you wanna sit there and watch the entire card? okay, maybe just the entire main card?

eh... ehhh...

not saying there weren't bangers, but eh... no card to really get that excited for.
