Big Roy Nelson at home wishing he was young man if we're talking about Kongo. HW, ugh, terrible. I had hopes we would get Aspinall vs Jones, but that didn't happen. Honestly I could care less about anything involving HWs right now. It's to the point I hope for chaos like Gane suddenly figuring out how to punch hard and KOing Tom, just for shits and giggles.

Stop recruiting the best talent from regional orgs and this is what you get.

UFC has been "failing up" for a LONG time, doing an absolutely terrible job

Recruiting talent
Booking fights
Promoting fighters
Promoting fights

Thats their fucking job and they do it poorly.

And as long as they keep reaping financial rewards while doing all these these wrong it is extremely unlikely they will fix anything. This is the problem with BRAND FIRST promotion, if they can rope enough suckers into "watching UFC" then they make money even if they don't put together the best matchups and even if they don't stack all their divisions with the best fighters available.

People wanted an actual top 20 with prospects, established but-not-washed guys who are in their 20s or early 30s preferably.

Who gives a shit about Jones, a perennial liability and a cheat who had no presence at HW worth mentioning anyways?

Jon doing a few fights is good also, just not as champ. Or if as champ, sign a 6 month not defend strip clause.

Aspinall is an amazing fighter tho.

Should at least bring in Nemkov since he’s at HW now. I have no idea why PFL isn’t trying to make Nemkov-Ngannou, that seems like a no-brainer.

It’s fine, the Asspinall fanboys told me Tom will rack up easy defenses and everyone will sing and dance (despite this site historically despising every champion who has done this).
 
Guys it takes time to rebuild a division it won't happen over night. We cry about the division sucking yet we shit on the new guys if they aren't physical specimens and want them to lose and we cry about how there's no new contenders then when a guy like Waldo is a win away from being in the mix we want him to lose. Like what? How can HW develop into a stronger division if we don't want the new guys to win and improve?



Unfortunately the old days of HW are gone and they won't come back. This is what we're stuck with so instead of shitting on everyone outside of the top 5 maybe it wouldn't be a bad idea to uplift the lesser guys once in a while. Cause if they don't win and improve we're stuck with nothing but rematches for Tom and the same top 5 for the next like 10 years as it's HW and the current top 5 is still pretty young and skilled enough to continue winning consistently unless another phenom comes along.
 
I agree it's very thin and looks pretty bad.

However, if Aspinall beats Gane and Almeida, he would have wins over Sergei, Blaydes, Gane, Almeida, Volkov, Spivak, Tybura.

That's not a bad list of wins at all.

PFL doesn't have the money to pay Ngannou according to his contract. Not to mention that Ngannou probably has little interest in getting walloped by Nemkov, which wouldn't be nearly as fun for him or as harmless to his MMA reputation as getting walloped by another high-level HW boxer.
