Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

Gene's pervy side.
He was into that brown sugary Nichelle Nichols sweetness back in the day, and you know he casting couched the stuffing out of a bunch of those actresses

TOS third season episode "Turnabout Intruder".
The final episode of the original series lands with a thud.

The theme of this stinker is that women are useless without a man around.
"Now, you'll know the indignity of being a woman."

I'm pretty sure the director told Shat, "Over-act the shit outta this one. Chew ALL the scenery."
Shatner, ever one to oblige...

The "You will obey my orders, or... or..." scene is almost surreally bad.
But, I suppose, no more so than all the other scenes.
It's just the worst.
RIP, TOS.

Just got the whole of TNG on Bluray to get though and it is interesting watching series one, besides Farpoint(and Were No One Has Gone Before which I'v not got to yet) I'v not seen these episodes since they originally went out on the BBC in the late 80's. Code of Honour is incredible dated and honestly was even then feeling like a leftover script from the latter seasons of the original but a lot of its a strange mix. Its not so much the show didn't have a lot of its strengths in the basic setup(even if the plotting wasn't), it did but you have these constant odd little moments were things suddenly become much broader rather than the even tone of the peak years.

As I rewatch the entire TNG series, I’ve been ranking each episode on a 1-10. The only episodes in the 1st season that even cracked an 8 or above for me were the premiere, The Naked Now, & Where No One Has Gone Before

No love for Conspiracy?

I'v gotten as far as The Battle now and I'd agree those three have been the best so far, again to me the show isn't so much lacking in a lot of its latter strengths as it is full of a lot of stuff that doesn't work. Something like Justice for example, the sections on the Enterprise with the "god" ship could probably make a decent peak era episode but then we have the aweful(well besides eye candy) sections on the planet that feel like a bad latter TOS episode. Makes it an interesting if a little frustrating to watch as its less uninspired than it is making constant missteps.

I an very impressed with the HD though, I'm guessing alot of the FX must have been redone to look as good as it does but it doesn't feel out of place as on the TOS updates, looks like some serious money has been put into it.

How bout at the end we turn Picard into a robot?

Also 7 of 9 is a lesbian now. Poor Chakotay
