Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

Crazy but true...
Stewart was in his 40's but looked like he was in his mid to late 50's.

First episode of Picard is live. I will give everyone a few days before talking spoilers. I give the episode 8/10. Only a few characters are introduced. Cinematography is stunning. I can't wait until next week.

I loved it!

"It's a symbol for fractal neuronic cloning."

"I'm sorry?"

I bought in and watched episode one. It is a strong start, and I like the cinematic quality of it. Nothing about it pissed me off.

Captain Picard Day. That was a nice Easter egg. I remember that episode.

Watch the first episode

Didn't feel like Star Trek at all

It's more of a cinematic production with a more dystopian feel to it, but I don't agree that it doesn't feel like Star Trek. Deep Space 9 started to take the franchise in a more dystopian direction, and people didn't like it at first, but it's a pretty popular series today. I think the adjustments they have made, thus far, are appropriate adjustments. I could change my mind as the series continues though.

7/10 first episode. It was solid though didn't feel totally like Star Trek. Something feels a little off but I don't know if that's me, the way it's made, or both. It feels more like a sci-fi show with Picard than Star Trek but it's got me so far. Some gripes but scenes like Picard unloading on the reporter were great. I'll roll with it, I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with it. I see why Stewart took the role.

eh you cant expect the same outdated cinematography and acting style that TNG had, 30 years later - it wouldnt mesh well with newer audiences

first episode was like watching a movie (or mini series like GOT/westworld/etc) - I was blown away with production values
yes, it seemed like your marvel movie at times but overall I am excited to see how characters and plot is going to be presented in upcoming episodes (will they be able to fuse old with the new successfully)

Section 31 officially entered pre-production this week. They begin filming in Toronto, starting in May.

I thought the tech looked a lot more in place in Picard than DSC. I loved on the Star Fleet archives they modern Lcars display, with the holograms. Tons of cools little gems packed in that room.

Fuck new audiences I want my star trek

Don't pretend it's for me by injecting a familiar character into new age shit

brb going to watch classic reruns of the show I love

I though it was great. I like where the story is going. The production value is great. It was beautiful to watch.

I know to some it doesn't remind them of star trek but to me it's too early to say. There have been episodes in every ST series that were off ship or even presented in a vacation/time off sort of way and that's how this seemed to me except the vacation/time off this is actually picard's retirment. Once he gets pulled back into Starfleet and on a ship it'll take on that familier look imo.

Watched it earlier in the day, great premise, looking forward to the next episode, the ending was sort of expected from the starting credits but holy shit on the implications.

Great episode. My wife, who didn't like Discovery a lot, is also completely hooked already.

They geoblocked the goddamn Ready Room with Wil Wheaton.

Really that sucks.

I know it's posted on YouTube, all access and Facebook.

Ok not trying to talk politics but is trump for real? It is literally a copy of the untied federation of planets, with a star fleet badge on top. Can CBS sue the Space force lol
