Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

For the US guys here a question.
Because I'm not familiar with the stereotype
Is Janeway the typical Irish woman ?
You know with Chakotay being native and Torres Mexican.

Yeah I will eventually.

Pretty upsetting that they are unable to do a Bluray release of Deep Space Nine or Voyager.

That might be one reason why I have yet to watch it.

TNG has spoiled with how good it looks.
They are able to, they just have to pony up the money. Maybe after the chaos of the merger and economy imploding, we might get DS9 and VOY in HD. Otherwise, there are already several fan efforts, using AI learning machines to auto tactically upscale it, and they have had some impressive results so far.

Yeah, the fan effort is commendable but I dont know where to download any of that stuff.

I'd still like an official release to add to my collection

Maybe some cool bonus features and stuff that hasn't been seen before.

I'm not sure what you are asking.

Yes, Voyager has some pretty racist stereotypes but I don't think Janeway is treated as such.

I didn't even know Janeway was Irish.

Kate Mulgrew comes from very Irish ancestory

So would I. The TNG Blu rays are one of the best packages I have ever seen. Not only was the restoration and upgraded special effects done beautifully, each season is always packed with special features and documentaries.

Sadly they didn't sell aswell as CBS wanted. They were nearly $100 per season when released, and that was right around the time, that physical media sales went into the toilet. They also did little to no marketing after season 3.

Star Trek is still one of the highest viewed series on streaming services. You would think they would want to upgrade to HD, to keep getting the highest ratea possible for streaming and syndication.

Best if both Worlds part 1, came out 30 years ago today. One of the greatest episodes of television, and one of the greatest cliffhangers.

Damn I feel old, 30 years....

I didn't care for it. I get that it's all just fiction, but the whole idea that you could take someone who has been transformed into a mindless drone and then restore them to their previous self was just too hard to buy. The two part series that really locked me into becoming a consistent TNG viewer was the Klingon civil war. Those episodes were unlike anything Trek had done before.

Part 1 of best of both worlds was an excellent episode. Part 2 was rushed, and resolved a little to simply. I always add in the next episode brothers to the mix. That was a fantastic episode

Rewatched Chaos on the Bridge, William Shatners TNG documentary. If you haven't seen this, it is a must watch. They need to make a movie based on it. So much drama.

I finished season 1 of Deep Space Nine.

My character Tier list so far

Tier 1 (GOAT Tier)
Odo
Quark
Miles

Tier 2 (OK Tier)
Sisko

Good for you!

After season 2, things pick up massively IMO.

I finished DS9 a few weeks ago. It was a good show, but I found the conclusion to be pretty lackluster. The war angle though did give the viewer a feel for the scale of the Federation, which was very cool.
