Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

I see your point. I just saw it as a guest star appearance, like Sulu in that Tuvok-Janeway mind meld episode, or Scotty in that Dyson sphere episode. It was good to see them succeed but also fail at the same time, though my minor gripe was that how did the ship and the crew so intact after crashing landing on an ice planet from SPACE, it should've looked like an explosion in marinara sauce factory. But I guess they have to keep it PG.

What are your favorite Voyager episodes?

Oh man too many to remember

Scorpion
One

The EP where planet moves in time faster and the doctor gets stuck there

Can't think right now drank grape wine

Oh man that one where doctor wrote hollonovel

Oh man remember when invisible doctor experimenters were on the ship what

Just going on IIRC here, but one character was gonna go at the end of season three. I think Kes was scheduled to go, and the execs wanted to axe the Harry Kim character, but then Wang was featured on the cover of some "sexiest man on tv" or "best looking guy playing an Asian character in a currently airing Star Trek series" magazine award thingy and he stayed on.

Garret Wang is a true-blooded Star Trek fan. He and a bunch of other Voyager actors appear in the film Star Trek: Of Gods and Men

I read that Star Trek Voyager producers were racist towards Wang. I guess its a standing tradition to let Star Trek actors direct a couple of episodes. Something to do with Sag cards or whatever

Long story short, Wang never got to a direct an episode and he blames it on racism

All good choices. The planet where time moves faster is probably my favorite. Also it shows that no matter where you go in the galaxy, there are going to be Asians.

That invisible aliens conducting experiments episode is actually quite creepy.

Looks like our tastes have converged!

Honestly considering he got lumbered with essential Wesley Cusher mk 2 I think he ended up doing a pretty good job with it giving the character some personality whilst not making him insufferable.

Apparently early on Garret had some real issues with being on time and being prepared. Producers were almost ready to kill him off, when he was named one of people magazines sexiest people and it saved his job.

when he got infected by species 8472 wasn't he supposed to die then and then they change their mind

they weregwere to give him the most horrible death ever where the doctor couldn't even sedate him haha

Most of the characters were terrible and not very likeable. They also didn't gel quite like the characters of TNG and DS9 did in their later years.

There use to be you tube videos of Voyager scenes with a sitcom laugh track in the background. Good stuff.

You lie, quit lying. It had a great cast.

Catherine Janeway made a superb female captain. Chakotay was the sensible #1 and I liked his native ancestry. Tuvok is the goat Vulcan. Harry Kim the teachers pet and Tom Harris the bad boy were a perfect fit to be buddies. The actors who played the doctor and Nelix were fantastic. Seven of nine?

Lots of good characters

Basically, Jennifer Lin's mental breakdown starting in season 2, overshadowed his issues, and he also improved over time. Lin was becoming extremely erratic and they often had to write her out of scenes due to her behavior.

Around that same time Showrunner Brannon Braga started banging a young single mom named Jeri Ryan. She was soon cast as 7 of 9. That could have been a huge disaster, and Kate Mulgrew tried several times to get her fired, but she turned out to be a great actress and the rest of the cast loved her.

Some of the Chakotay episodes were pretty racist in hindsight

They flubbed whenever they tried to look into his Native American past

But at least they tried

I liked the relationship between Tuvok and Janeway

It was never fleshed out as much as it could have been but it was a still a highlight of the show

Loved Janeway too (always been a Kate Mulgrew fan)...I only recently saw some choppy footage w/ the 1st Janeway (part of some unaired pilot or something)...man ugh lol....

Such a great scene right here

I love that episode arc. Got to see Picard, Riker, and Data all play different roles and take command at different times.

It was always interesting how the ships showed others in command, only when the senior officer was off the ship. In reality, the Enterprise ran a 3 shift system with the following person being in command

Day watch: Riker
Evening watch: Picard
Overnight watch: Data
