ENT episode "Desert Crossing"

A good first season ep.
The Enterprise is on its way to Risa for shore leave, when they answer a distress call from a small ship piloted by the voice of Mister Krabs.
Mister Krabs invites Archer and Commander Tucker to his planet for dinner and a romantic game of desert lacrosse. They accept, and it becomes clear Krabs has an ulterior motive: he's leading a revolution against their government, and wants the help of the Enterprise.

He's a well- meaning guy, and seemingly fighting for a good cause.
It's one of those classic "These people need our help/ Prime Directive" mission, before the formation of the Directive.
Archer chooses not to take sides in the conflict, then T'pol takes her clothes off and enjoys a long bath.

Read an interesting article on how covid is affecting Star Trek. Season 3 of Discovery is almost done. The special effects teams are working from home, which has slowed the process, but they have roughly 10 episodes completed. The biggest hangup is the music. All the music has been scored, but it is the last step of the production process, and Discovery uses a full orchestra, which cannot record due to social distancing. As soon as they can record, the episodes will be ready.

Picard season 2 was suppose to begin filming at the end of May, but that has been delayed until likely August.

Terry Matalas has been named showrunner of Picard Season 2. He most recently was the creator and showrunner of the show 12 monkeys. He previously worked on the 2 last seasons of Voyager and all 4 seasons of Enterprise.

Voyager would be improved by having some kind of list of episodes worth watching or needed to watch for plot, I don't think it was ever that it was lacking in good episodes so much as it had so many mediocre ones. It never really got hold of low key episodes the way TNG and DS9 did IMHO due to a lack of interesting characters.

You cut say a third of the lesser episodes out and it would probably be a much better viewing experience.
Most of the characters were terrible and not very likeable. They also didn't gel quite like the characters of TNG and DS9 did in their later years.

There use to be you tube videos of Voyager scenes with a sitcom laugh track in the background. Good stuff.

I was looking at the TNG technical manual today, then saw this post on Twitter. Pretty incredible the amount of detail that went into the design. Remember, that had an entire section of the ship dedicated aquatic lifeforms, and actually had several Orca and dolphin crew members.

What? I don't remember that at all.

I did have that Technical Manual back in the day

Yeah, The Enterprise D had a large Cetacean lab, and most of the Orcas and dolphins specialized in navigation and research.

If you ever look at the technical manual, it's hilarious how huge the ship is, and how little we actually see.

Anson Mount led Pike series has its working title, and has entered pre production

STAR TREK : STRANGE NEW WORLDS

I would say it started to pickup in the 3rd season before that but yeah that was definitely a significant improvement as was Seven actually adding some character/conflict beyond the cat suit.
I liked Voyager when it wasn't Seven of Nine's Island guest starring And The Rest.

They obviously hired Ryan for fake tits ratings, but Ryan knocked it out of the park as a character that's all but Vulcan.

I'm guessing a two way hiring, sold on the sex appeal to studio execs but also viewed as a chance to introduce a character with more conflict.

Just going on IIRC here, but one character was gonna go at the end of season three. I think Kes was scheduled to go, and the execs wanted to axe the Harry Kim character, but then Wang was featured on the cover of some "sexiest man on tv" or "best looking guy playing an Asian character in a currently airing Star Trek series" magazine award thingy and he stayed on.

Voyager episode "Unforgettable"

One of my favorites.
The crew is testing a new FTL drive which requires a shuttle to ride in front of Voyager to "map" the ST gibberish "wave front" and send course corrections back.

Harry and Chakotay fly the Delta Flyer in front of Voyager, but Harry fucked up and sent bad course corrections. Voyager decelerates into flat space, and crashes onto an ice planet, where it's covered over.

Fifteen years later, Chakotay and Harry have been searching for Voyager's location and find it; they have a plan to send a course correction "message" backwards in time to Seven in the hopes that it will change the timeline and save Voyager from disaster.

Meanwhile, the two have been on the run from Kunta Kinte, being wanted fugitives. He tries to talk them into standing down and putting their pants back on.
Eventually Harry is unable to send the proper course corrections, but at the doctor's suggestion sends corrections that shut down the drive and save Voyager.

Harry is beside himself with confusion and self loathing because of his seeming up-fucking, but a second message is discovered from future Kim to present Kim, telling him he fixed the error and the outcome it created. Causality loop closed, Seven removes her clothing and takes a long, warm bath.
