Television The Star Trek Thread V6.0

No surprise. There were whiny bitches then, there are whiny bitches now. There will always be whiny bitches.

I didn't really like Picard. Some of my friends really did. Whatever.

I didn't like Next Gen and gave up season one. I came back and it had some great stuff... But I didn't like most of it. I hated DS9. A friend of mine talked me into going back, and turns out a lot of it was awesome. A lot of it (every single Ferengi episode for starters) was terrible. The ending was THE WORST. But it also had some amazing stuff. Voyager? Bailed on that early as well. Same friend talked me into going back, and some of my favorite characters are from that show. Enterprise? hated it, left it, never really went back, although I did catch the occasional episode and it seemed to get better until... Nazis? Discovery? Not what I expected. Turned me off right from the start with some bad, unnecessary changes to the universe but in the end, you know what? In the end they made some excellent science fiction, I'm glad I watched it, and I'm looking forward to more.

I don't understand the obsession with hanging around a site for something you don't like and complaining how terrible it is. I can't imagine putting so much energy into complaining about something I didn't like.
Well said, Enterprise came out when I was 17, and I was so excited for a new Star Trek series. I watched and loved the first episode, but soon became pretty bored with it. It really bummed me out, and I didn't understand why they went back in time. Star trek was about the future, and the NX 01 felt like and old crappy ship. Soon 8 lost intrest, and became much more concerned about more important things to a 27 year old, like placing in state for the Discus, stealing my brothers ID to try and buy beer, and trying to get laid. As the years went on, I still watched tng, DS9, and TOS reruns, and saw the TNG films, but lost interest. Finally when Netflix came along, I saw they had Enterprise, and decided to just get through the first season. After watching the Andorian incident, I was hooked. I binge watched all 4 season in a few weeks, and couldn't believe I didn't give this great series a chance, due to its slow early episodes.

Amen.

TOS ep "Spectre of the Gun"
Third season, after the budget had been slashed. Actually one of my favorite episodes.

The film transfer is absolute garbage, just shit everywhere in every frame. Pops and scratches.

Shat has a noticeable gut going on.

This is a nice example of finding clever ways to work around budget limitations. Instead of utilizing full sets, much of the show takes place against colored backdrops, with just the frames of buildings to provide the barest minimum to inform the scene. The characters are often depicted in a wide flat shot with a smoke machine.

The guys playing Wyatt Earp and Doc Holliday are great. They nail the villainous roles.

Cool documentary about the auction of Trek props.
They hired Michael Okuda to do inventory.
In these times, something good to watch.

Happy 89th Bday to William Shatner

TOS ep "For the World is Hollow and I Have Touched the Sky"
Third season. A great story The Orville rips off decades later.

Bones bones the Yonada thot, hanging out his shingle so to speak.
Cool story bro about the descendants of a race destroyed by its star going nova (sound familiar) being put on a ship and then everybody goes through space all kablooey.

Bones loses his boner when the Provider or whatever spanks him with naughty electrical juices.

Everybody ends up in a small room together, smelling each other's farts

You're just not a fan of Star Trek

You gave up on all the series and needed convincing to return

Voyager started faster than TNG and DS9 did

There is no "wait till season" for Voyager

Right out the gate its giving you the Voyager good stuff

I thought Voyager was mostly trash before 7 of 9 came on

and not because of seven of nine but before that the stores are more disjointed and random
